**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES**
- Full Professor rank level
- Doctoral Degree in Law with a specialization in Human Rights Law or related area such as International Law.
- A track record of accredited research publications that are nationally and internationally recognized commensurate with the academic rank of Professor.
- At least 10 years’ experience in a higher education environment.
- Postgraduate supervision experience including successful master’s and doctoral supervision.
- A proven track record of raising research funding.

**ADDED ADVANTAGE**:

- Strong administrative and people management skills.
- Substantial professional experience gained from working in a human rights institution or related environment.
- NRF rating.
- Membership of relevant professional/scientific body.
- Evidence of research partnerships and collaborations at national and international levels.

**RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE**:

- Provide strategic leadership in the broad area of Human Rights.
- Contribute to teaching, learning and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Provide leadership in curriculum review and development of existing and new programmes respectively.
- Establish and actively collaborate in research projects locally and internationally.
- Supervise postgraduate students at master’s and doctoral levels.
- Drive community engagement activities.
- Establish partnerships nationally and internationally; and ensure good relations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in relevant University committees and structures
