**ASSET CONTROLLER**

**TWO (2) YEAR APPOINTMENT CONTRACT**

**GRADE 8**

**MAIN PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE**

The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative and management support to the asset management unit and quality control to the asset register project. The project is aimed at fully automating the movable and immovable fixed asset registers. The position will require the incumbent to do intercampus travel and all establishments with University assets.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES**
- 3-year Degree in Finance/Commerce/Accounting or any related field,
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Excel (basic to advanced).
- Previous experience of at least 3 years in an asset management environment of a reputable SMME to a large organisation with specific asset register experience,
- Proven ability to lead a team, work under pressure and deadline driven,
- Ability to multi-task and liaise confidently with stakeholders,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
- Experience in the Higher Education Sector or Services related sector will be an added advantage,
- Knowledge of ITS Integrator system will be added advantage,
- Driver’s license is prerequisite considering the expectation of travel between campuses.

**KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES**
- Perform asset accounting,
- Reconciliation of all Capital Expenditure Accounts (GL and FAR),
- Capitalizing Work in Progress on Completion of projects and do a follow up on WIP projects Assistance with Disposal management,
- Vehicles additions on Fleet List and ITS AR,
- Audit handling,
- Audit control within the Asset Management Unit,
- Assist in providing administrative support to management of the Section,
- Assist in providing operational direction for the Section,
- Scheduling and facilitation of meetings with Departments,
- Maintain University Fleet list,
- Assistance in Insurance portfolio management,
- Arrange for completion of Claim forms.
