**The University of Fort Hare **seeks to appoint a Head: Oliver Tambo Center of Human Rights in the Faculty of law for a
**Five (5) year fixed term contract.**

**FACULTY OF LAW**

**HEAD: OLIVER TAMBO CENTRE OF HUMAN RIGHTS**

**ALICE CAMPUS ONLY**

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES**:

- Professor/Associate Professor OR meets the requirements for appointment at the level of Professor or Associate Professor.
- Doctoral Degree in Law with a specialization in Human Rights Law or International Law.
- A track record of accredited research publications that are nationally and internationally recognized commensurate with the academic rank of Professor/Associate Professor.
- At least 10 years’ teaching experience in higher education for full Professor/ 7 years’ experience in higher education for Associate Professor.
- Postgraduate supervision experience including successful master’s and doctoral supervision.
- A proven track of raising of research funding.
- Strong administrative and people management skills.

**ADDED ADVANTAGE**:

- Possession of professional experience gained from working in a human rights institution or related environment.
- NRF rating.
- Membership of related professional/scientific body.

**RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE**:

- Teaching, learning and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Preparation and developing new programmes for approval and accreditation by the relevant structures.
- Active involvement in collaborative research projects locally and internationally.
- Supervise postgraduate students at master’s and doctoral levels.
- Drive community engagement in the Centre.
- Ensure good relations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the Centre at relevant University committees.
