**1. Strategic/Financial**
- Continuously review policies, processes, systems and technology to drive improvements and business efficiency.
- Reward, benefits, mobility, payroll and job evaluation strategy (medium to long term) planning and execution.
- Governance: risk & compliance management.
- General management: Rem and Ben budget, cost optimisation, people development, performance management, projects and reporting.

- Formulating strategic guidelines and implementation of remuneration & benefits best practice directives, standards, and policies.
- Formulating strategic guidelines for global mobility assignments.
- Formulating job evaluation policy, process and approvals.
- Link remuneration and benefits policy and practices to Business & HC Strategy and transformation goals.
- Ensure implementation of remuneration policy and practices are linked to performance.
- Ensure compliance with local tax, bargaining council, accounting and other legal requirements.
- Manage analysis, trends and benchmarking - regular analysis of market data to evaluate basic salary and other reward elements for relevance, including trends in all countries/areas where Avis operates.
- Provide guidance on flexible rewards and benefits and programmes which will enhance the morale, wellness, retention and experience of employees.
- Coordinate and manage the contracts and service levels of providers of Retirement Funds, Medical aids, insurance Policies (GPA).
- Research and develop short term incentive & recognition schemes and programmes and retention interventions for Avis for presentation and approval at the Remuneration Committee (Remcom).
- Regularly review and maintain the terms of Remcom & King compliance analysis & reports.
- Review all Remcom documentation for presentation and act as secretary to the remuneration committee.
- Coordinate annual salary review process and incentives and Exco sign-off.
- Directly lead or where appropriate provide guidance to the business on policy exceptions and unique cases.
- Approval of remuneration for ad-hoc requests for increases / promotions and retention.
- Provide guidance & motivation of new benefit schemes for southern Africa as well as the international schemes for medical, retirement and risk benefits.
- Act on board of Trustees / management committee of pension / medical schemes.
- Regular stakeholder engagement to identify business issues and challenges that can be supported by departmental service offerings and develop solutions to address.
- Remuneration and benefits tracking, recording and reporting including dashboards.
- Provide assurance by regular and relevant audits and reviews.
- Implement paylines per grade as the basis of reference to market surveys for internal pay comparisons.
- Ensure alignment reward and benefits to relevant industry best practices.
- Research and analyse market trends that will help to make Avis attractive, enhance productivity, increase employee engagement and support retention of key skills.
- Staying abreast of legislative changes, trends etc. to ensure a quick response to market changes and compliance.

**Payroll**
- Manage payroll for South Africa & African countries including managing payroll risks, developing and implementing control systems, managing the payroll department quality and conduct audits.
- Manage statutory compliance as well as studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Maintains payroll information by designing systems, directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
- Ensure salary transfers reach staff bank accounts by the salary pay-date, error free.
- Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating payroll procedures and processes.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Approve Adjusted Cost Base (ACB) reconciliation & banking.
- Monthly costing reports must be populated for checking and signing off, these must be accompanied by the monthly variance reports applicable.
- Work with Finance team by designing and developing a process flow for integration of general ledger information into relevant financial system.
- Ensure payroll accounts are balanced by resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Ensure all financial duties are executed by the payroll analysts for all financial responsibilities monthly.
- Ensure all billing and statutory functions are executed by the payroll analysts monthly.
- Ensure all Africa statutory payments are executed by the payroll analysts monthly, correctly and on time.
- Provide Ad-hoc reports as required by management / executives.
- Works closely with the HC Analyst: Systems and Reporting to ensuring methods of calculations are done accurately and timeously for any legislative / council or Benefit changes before it is released into the live payroll system.
