**Overview**

My client a non-profit Organisation / Foundation which plays host to a unique medical volunteering programme providing the opportunity for healthcare professionals to treat, teach and learn at local medical and healthcare establishments in the Limpopo region, while also finding refuge in the quiet and beauty of a private game reserve Safari Lodge (self-catering) for the duration of their stay in South Africa.

My client is urgently recruiting for a Lodge Manager to run the self-catering Safari Lodge located on a Private Game Reserve in Limpopo adjacent to the Kruger National Park.

**The Lodge (description)**

Within the Volunteer Lodge Establishment, each chalet (9 Chalets but are in the process of building a further 5 Chalets) has a private deck with a breathtaking view of the bush. The communal building features two comfortable lounge areas with a fireplace, a fully equipped, state-of-the-art kitchen and scullery and a spacious dining room. Also available is a separate TV room and a gym, wooden deck, infinity pool and boma where the volunteers can enjoy superb views of the Klein Drakensberg Mountains and a watering hole close by that draws the animals of the Game Reserve.

Each chalet has a full set of basic amenities including linen and towels which are serviced by the housekeeping staff daily. Self-service laundry facilities are available. There is complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the Centre.

**Overall, Purpose of the Job**

To maintain the lodge through efficient administration and effective coordination of maintenance, general housekeeping, and basic hospitality activities in a cost-effective manner

**Remuneration Structure**
- Basic Salary - Highly Competitive Salary CTC
- Accommodation Provided - Single status
- A beautifully appointed house consisting of one bedroom en suite, lounge, kitchen, study, pool, boma.
- Self-Catering - as meals are not provided
- Housekeeping and laundry available
- Use of Company Vehicle

**Requirements**:

- Matric
- Tertiary Qualification in Hospitality / Tourism operations
- preferable
- Drivers Licence - with PDP preferable
- Experience in Lodge Management / Self catering establishments - 5-6 years
- Keen interest and Good knowledge of South African Wildlife / Big Game etc
- Strong Administrative acumen
- Budgets
- Purchasing and inventory control
- Reservation Management
- Revenue management
- Maintenance experience
- **The prospective incumbent should be comfortable living and working in a remote environment**

**KPA / Main Outputs and Responsibilities for this Position**

**General**
- Interacts with volunteers to ensure accommodated adequately.
- Keeps an updated book of local and regional activities and contact numbers for volunteers to source.
- Assists with transport to and from the airport if required.
- Maintains, in conjunction with the clinical team and volunteer recruitment officer a database of guests / volunteers and ensures that they complete the relevant documentation upon arrival.
- Makes lodge bookings and checks volunteers in and out of lodge.
- Creates and maintains an effective filing system for proper record keeping.
- Ensures each volunteer is issued with scrubs when they arrive and a certificate at the end of their stay.
- Participates in adhoc special projects and performs adhoc auxiliary functions as and when required.
- Attend weekly staff meeting, hold daily meetings with sub ordinates

**Purchasing and Inventory Control**
- Prepares an operational budget for daily operations of the lodge and manages expenditure pragmatically.
- Maintains accurate records of expenses by creating and maintaining a proper filing system.
- Ensures all slips and records of purchases are sent to Accounts Dept timeously.
- Pays accounts timeously and correctly in a manner that maintains a positive cash flow. Ensures all slips and records of purchases are sent to Accounts Dept timeously.
- Maintains good business relations with vendors and suppliers.
- Requests quotations from suppliers to inform the procurement of cleaning material, office supplies and relevant services at the best prices.
- Communicates with Service Providers in relation to delivery and collection of packages and documents.
- Maintains a fixed asset register and conducts bi-annual asset counts.

**Facility Maintenance**
- Responds and addresses reports on broken or malfunctioning equipment and facilities reported by volunteers or maintenance staff
- Schedules, allocates and prioritizes work in line with operational requirements.
- Conducts regular inspections of lodge facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Manages kitchen and restroom supplies by maintaining adequate stock levels.
- Conducts routine stock takes in kitchen to ensure sufficient and adequate resources are available for use.
- Conducts room checks prior to new arrivals and keeps in close contact with volunteers / guests should they have queries.
