**JOB OVERVIEW**:
The role is responsible for integrated learning and development across the Group. In this role the incumbent will collaborate with the senior business leaders to develop the organisation’s learning and development strategy and to set priorities for development and delivery of specific programming.

The head learning and development will provide leadership and oversight for L&D, including oversight of the design, development and delivery of curriculum, tools and resources for target audiences ranging from entry-level new hires to professional / specialists consultants to management roles.

The successful incumbent would ensure that the L&D strategy and delivery thereof contributes towards achievement of skills development targets and that the businesses are supported accordingly.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Defines clear objectives and frameworks for the Group learning and development strategy, aligned to talent management and by extension business strategy, business; and ensures that processes are in place to review and approve the overall L&D strategy.
- Facilitate the development of FSC skills development targets and ensure that delivery of the L&D strategy contributes to achievement of the targets.
- Monitoring, evaluation and reporting on progress towards skills development targets.
- Advise senior leadership across the Group regarding initiatives that will address performance gaps, promote maximum employee effectiveness and create a positive impact on learning and performance (productivity).
- Coordinates and monitors short, medium and long-range learning initiatives as outlined in the L&D strategic framework and are aligned with the Group's strategic goals to create maximum impact (return on investment).

Designs and establishes benchmarks that measure the impact and effectiveness of organisational learning and development programmes on the Group's overall performance.
- Positions the learning and development function in the Group as a world-class learning organisation that applies industry leading practice
- Oversee the L&D budget across the Group.
- At a strategic level, direct and co-ordinate L&D activities across the organisation in partnership with relevant department heads to ensure that L&D strategic objectives

and outputs are being met in a cost effective and sustainable manner.
- Forges relationships with the business and key learning partners, including, but not limited to: government institutions (e.g. SETAs), learning solutions providers (e.g.

business schools) and industry professional associations.
- Interfaces and consults with the executive head: Human Resources on the transformation agenda for L&D, and ensures that the programmes offered in learning

align with and support the continued performance and capability needs of employees and other stakeholders.
- Advises senior leadership regarding initiatives in leadership development and successor development planning in partnership with the talent manager, to ensure strong bench strength and a full pipeline of talent.
- Formulates initiatives and oversees implementation of budgets and programmes that impact learners at various stages of the learning cycle - for example, introduction of new learning concepts and products, on-the-job experience and post learning event performance support.
- Assess the effectiveness of the L&D strategy in relation to the organisational strategy and ensures that processes are in place to evaluate the effectiveness of various L&D initiatives/interventions to ensure delivery of learning that meets business as usual and business project needs.
- Communicates and disseminates the impact of the L&D function with senior leaders through innovative learning technologies and provides the tools for senior leaders to communicate that impact to the rest of the organisation.
- Fosters an environment of learning and continuous improvement through communication for more effective business decision-making.
- Creates and drives change through a culture of ontinuous learning.
- Promotes efficiency and sustainability of all resources (e.g. financial and people) as a L&D priority.

Celebrates and promotes transformation, equality and diversity through the L&D process.

**QUALIFICATION REQUIRED**:

- B (Hons) degree or Master’s degree.

**SKILLS REQUIRED**:
