Pr & Corporate Affairs Manager

Our insurance client is seeking a **PR & Corporate Affairs Manager** to join their team in Umhlanga, Durban.
The role of the PR & Corporate Affairs Manager is to promote a favourable brand image and public reputation whilst building and maintaining relationships between the company and all stakeholders. This includes establishing valuable relationships within the group as well as the public and media, liaising with thought leaders, operating as a strategic partner liaison, securing media opportunities and fielding reputational issues.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop company’s PR and Communications Strategy_
- Identify key audiences for the company that align to the business, brand and marketing objectives and define the best way to reach them
- Build a PR communication strategy, working closely with the PR agency to develop this plan across both IFA and direct-customer channels.
- Work with stakeholders to drive thought leadership strategies inclusive of proactive editorial opportunities, and media features, to increase total ongoing PR coverage.
- PR and Communication Management_
- Together with the PR agency, draft the channel, content and tactics best suitable to deliver on the PR and Media strategy
- Oversee online content in media announcements and media kits
- Drive paid editorial coverage (advertorials) for on-going PR and campaign exposure
- Organise press conferences, preparing media kits, promotional videos, oversee press releases / speeches for organizational leaders.
- Plan and budget for PR events, programs and initiatives
- Benchmark, forecast and monitor PR metrics and improvements
- Feed into and support social media comms as part of the public profiling of the organisation
- Monitor economic, social and political trends that might affect the organisation and recommend ways to enhance company’s image on the basis of those trends_
- Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends, competitor activity and customer relations, make appropriate recommendations to respond proactively
- The corporate affairs manager must be keenly aware of research and development, sales and marketing and customer service functions and how they overlap and intertwine within the company
- Demonstrate a keen sense of where the company has come from and where it is poised to grow to take advantage of any opportunities that present themselves
- Foster media relations_
- Proactively push media interest and tactical opportunities for the brand and marketing campaigns
- Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis.
- Build strong relationships with industry publications, journalists and media profiles
- Facilitate any publicity requirements - field media questions as well as pitch stories to the media.
- Manage external PR & media agencies_
- Brief, manage and asses the performance of the PR agency, taking responsibility for all agency outputs and filtering this against business objectives
- Review and define best practices for working with an appointed agency
- Measure and provide reports on each PR campaign
- Reputation Management_
- Foster relationships within the wider Group with the intent of strengthening company’s perceived value and contribution to the group, as well as well identifying opportunities to expand our offering and enhance our value proposition in the network.
- Crisis management: manage events and ensure appropriate actions are carried out should company become involved in an emergency affecting the public
- Facilitate all distribution of information to employees, media, government and other key publics.
- Development and management of Social Economic Development (SED) and Consumer Education (CE) strategy: _
- Assist to draft and implement a Business and Society Strategy (BASS) that is consistent with our corporate strategy and values.
- Take ownership of the SED strategy and implementation - oversee the investments of money, time, products and/or services in projects outside the organisation that contributes to economic development.
- Drive CE that increases financial literacy and financial inclusion for consumers and potential consumers
- Oversee the processes and procedures by which the company will identify, manage, and support its BASS activities
**Requirements**:
- BA/MA degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline such as journalism
- Minimum 5 years PR & Marketing experience
- A proven track record in communications, specialising in PR and Media management
- Confidence managing and implementing CSI/SED strategies and initiatives for the business
- Plus - experience within financial services or insurance category
- Ability to translate strategic objectives into a cohesive PR and Communications plan for both customer and IFA channels.
