Our Client in Pretoria area is looking for a dynamic person to fill a fixed 12 month contract

**Experience**
- **Minimum three years working experience within Earth Observations.**:

- **A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel**.

- **National **Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering.**:

- **Honours or Postgraduate in R **emote Sensing or Geospatial Science will be an ** added advantage.*

**1. Earth observations Strategy review and implementation**

Engage user communities to develop user requirements specifications on Earth Observations (EO)
- User requirements report and relevant documentation (e.g., Reports) in relation to user engagements

Communicate the benefits of using EO for better decision making to relevant stakeholders
- Workshops, meetings, etc. conducted. Benefits shared through the National EO & Space Secretariat

Support the review of the EO strategy and other related matters
- Approved Review report

Facilitate the implementation of the strategy through EO related stakeholders (e.g. SANSA, SAEON)
- Agreed milestones achieved on strategic implementation, that responds to user requirements

**development**

Mobilize funding for proposals based on user engagements and selection of the proposals for implementation
- Proposals received through the implementing agency, reviewed and recommended for support

Monitor progress made on the implementation through bi-annual projects progress Reports
- Bi-annual progress reports compiled and submitted for approval

Facilitate the transfer of funds as per contract signed
- Funds transferred accordingly and utilized.

Support Local EO industry (SMMEs_
- Growth of domestic and transformed EO industry

**3. Provide support and oversight for DSI entities in Space Science and Technology (SST)**

Provide technical inputs on the APP, Ops plan, strategic plan
- Draft reports and inputs that are aligned to the Company priorities

Analyse and make inputs on the quarterly, annual and progress reports
- Approved quarterly, annual and projects reports

**4. Facilitate strategic Partnerships**

Engage internationally, regionally and locally through bilateral and multilateral arrangement
- Draft reports and inputs that are aligned to the Company priorities

Capacitate the region, especially SADC on the beneficial use of EO information
- Capacity interventions conducted on EO capacity in the region.

Collaborate with other countries on initiatives identified, especially in the SADC region
- Leveraged global knowledge to capacitate the national competence Progress (reports) made on initiatives

**5. Promoting the human capital and technology incubators, industry development and promoting the public benefits of space science and technology**

Facilitate the development of human capital and Space Awareness Initiatives
- HCD and space awareness plans created and implemented

Development and implementation of Human Capital plan to capacitate the Space programme
- HCD plan implemented and transformed on the EO industry

Outreach programme to excite an array of stakeholders about Space Science and Technology
