**About the Role**

Are you looking for a role where you can directly contribute to the servicing of Swiss Re Corporate Solution's growing customer base in South Africa? In the role of Head: Operations you are responsible for ensuring the delivery of end-to-end Operations services to the local teams and to lead the Underwriting Support Team (Business Services). You and your team support the Underwriting teams based in the region taking care of direct insurance business for corporate clients. You are a member of the SA Management Team and a strong contributor to move the entity to the next level.

This position may require some travel for business meetings or training.

**Main Responsibilities**

In the role your main responsibilities include the following:
- Own the SA business operations, supporting the Country Head on key business initiatives, strategy development, resource planning and special projects- Develop an operations strategy for the regional business within the framework of the Swiss Re Group
- designing/re-designing playbooks and processes for efficiency and optimisation across all business functions- Lead the operations team, including performance management, career development and workload management- Achieve outstanding service delivery with support from centralized, outsourced and third-party functions within the broader group operations function- Support by our compliance function, by ensuring Swiss Re CorSo's operational compliance with applicable laws and regulations.- Work collaboratively across all teams, you will be responsible for timely and effective communication and hosting engagements with both our regulators and supervisory authorities- Coordinate regulatory and/or supervisory returns, handling queries that may arise on both sides- Being a contact person for Risk Management, Legal, Tax and Internal Audit regarding issues arising for the South Africa entity- Support local Underwriting, Finance and Claims Heads with regards to all Operations topics and assist them in addressing internal and external customer questions, concerns and complaints- Drive efficiency improvements across all technical accounting, underwriting support, claims operations and critical initiatives, whether through technology, process or organizational refinement- Support the Country Manager on various topics such as prepare status reports, financial planning and cost controlling for the branch

**About the Team**

In EMEA Operations, we provide support to the Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (CorSo) Underwriting and Claims Teams. Our duties and responsibilities directly have an impact on the productivity, process efficiency, timeliness, profitability, and accuracy of the CorSo's Underwriting and Claims process and ensure a seamless delivery of services to our clients and brokers.

**About You**- Bachelors Degree (Undergraduate, Honours)- Regulatory & Key Individual exams (RE5 & KI) preferred- Lean, Business Process Management or Six Sigma certification advantageous- Post-Graduate Business qualification is advantageous- Minimum 8 years relevant experience within the financial services industry, preferably insurance; previous leadership experience a must- Consistent record in end-to-end operations management, ideally supplemented with knowledge in business services, underwriting processes and claims processing.- Must be fully proficient in English (reading, written and verbal)- Client centric and solutions-oriented attitude- Ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate and supervise personal work plan to lead all aspects of multiple activities- Attracts, selects, develops, and retains outstanding talent to meet current business needs and prepare for future challenges and growth goals- Excellent digital literacy - Microsoft Office (Access, MS Project, and Visio is a plus
