Freelance Events Manager

BabyYumYum.co.za (BYY) is seeking a strong freelance events manager to oversee guest experiences and make it the best it can be. Therefore, understanding our brands, audience and clients' unique creative palate is important. This freelance event specialist must have the ability to think outside the box when it comes to high style and design sensibilities. This position is based in Johannesburg.

**Duties**:
Budget creation and management for all assigned events
Manage the conceptualisation, project planning and execution of all official events, in-person and online.
Maintain the guest database, including relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Establishing staffing requirements for entire event.
When required, hiring and supervising freelance staff and vendors.
Interfacing directly with clients to establish event needs.
Interfacing directly with digital team to create content for events.
Working as part of a team to produce a wide variety of events from large to small.
Play an advisory/mentoring role to internal stakeholders which includes the provision of guidance, support, and training on event organisational services.
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the events website, and the internal organising events webpages.
Developing and implementing plans and production schedules for events (security walk-thrus, transportation plan, creative and printed materials, etc.)
Developing creative menus in line with brand/event identity, goals of the event and current food and beverage trends.

**Oversee bar and beverage planning**: staffing and placement of bars (working with caterer), and creating thematic drinks etc.
Placing rental orders with vendors.
Actively seeking out new vendors to keep our events fresh and innovative.
Ability to travel, work weekends, public holidays and evenings is a must.
Responsible for pre-planning on internal and external events.
Responsible for generating meeting schedules to help clients and internal team manage their project planning and approval process.

**Requirements**:
BA degree in marketing, public relations or equivalent work experience preferred.
Must have own transport.
Minimum of five years in in the industry with a firm knowledge of producing a variety of events focused on brand immersion and messaging.
Corporate experience is an advantage.
Project management and leadership experience required.
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Ability to juggle multiple projects and work under deadlines while keeping a positive demeanor and client focused.
Must be a flexible and a creative problem solver.
Must be self-motivated, organised and detail oriented.
Ability to lead project and team while interfacing and managing (internal) clients.
Seek out innovative, creative and modern ways to represent the BYY platforms including branding elements, menu, talent, activities, etc.
Ability to think outside the box with high degree of style and design aesthetic.
Team player is a must.
