Operations Manager

**Job Purpose**:
The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the retail business, ensuring that the infrastructure, systems, and processes are running efficiently to meet both operational and financial goals. This role requires a hands-on leader who can coordinate across departments, manage staff, streamline operations, optimize performance, and collaborate with the executive team to align business objectives with operational execution.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Operational Oversight and Efficiency**
- Lead the overall operational strategy and execution for retail stores, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee day-to-day business operations including inventory management, supply chain logistics, store operations, and customer service excellence.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure high operational performance and efficient resource utilization.
- Implement best practices in retail operations to optimize cost efficiencies, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
- Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures to ensure consistency across all retail locations.
**2. Revenue and Profitability Management**
- Collaborate with the finance team to set and monitor revenue targets, budgeting, and cost management for all operational activities.
- Ensure that retail outlets meet or exceed revenue, sales targets, and profitability goals.
- Analyze sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to identify opportunities for revenue growth and operational improvements.
- Drive strategies for inventory turnover, markdown management, and effective pricing to maximize profitability.
**3. Infrastructure & Systems Development**
- Work with the IT and infrastructure teams to ensure that all systems (POS, CRM, inventory management, etc.) are operating efficiently and effectively.
- Identify and implement necessary infrastructure upgrades or new technologies to improve operational workflows and customer experience.
- Ensure all retail locations are equipped with the tools, training, and support needed to operate smoothly.
**4. Staff Management & Development**
- Manage and lead a team of operational staff across all retail locations, providing direction, training, and support to ensure high performance.
- Develop staffing strategies to ensure appropriate coverage during peak times while maintaining cost control.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Implement training programs to ensure that staff are well-equipped with the knowledge to drive sales and enhance customer satisfaction.
**5. Vendor & Supplier Relationships**
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and third-party service providers to ensure the timely delivery of products and services.
- Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance to optimize cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure smooth and efficient stock replenishment.
**6. Compliance & Risk Management**
- Ensure that all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee inventory audits, stock controls, and loss prevention strategies to safeguard the business’s assets.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address any operational or regulatory issues.
**7. Strategic Planning & Cross-Departmental Collaboration**
- Partner with the executive team to define and execute long-term business strategy, ensuring that operational capabilities align with broader company objectives.
- Participate in weekly or monthly meetings with the executive team to review performance, discuss challenges, and align on priorities.
- Provide leadership and operational insights to support marketing, merchandising, and customer experience teams in achieving business goals.
**8. Reporting & Data Analysis**
- Prepare regular reports on key operational metrics, including sales performance, inventory levels, operational costs, and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct root cause analysis for any performance gaps and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Leverage data and analytics to optimize operational workflows and decision-making.
**Key Requirements**:
**Education and Experience**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Retail Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in retail operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Proven track record of improving operational efficiency, driving revenue growth, and optimizing processes in a retail environment.
- Strong experience in budget management, forecasting, and meeting financial targets.
