Saat Employee Relations Specialist

**Job Purpose**:
To provide an Employee Relations Service in order to assist and equip Line Management, Human Resources Management and Employees and to offer support to ensure that ER is performed within the relevant and applicable Labour Legislation and Company Policies and Procedures.**
Principal Accountabilities**:
- To manage all disciplinary and grievance cases in SAAT in order ensure efficient case management o Chair internal grievance hearings, excluding Senior Management and Executives o Monitor Disciplinary hearings and Suspensions depending on case circumstances o Represent the company at the CCMA and any other third party for all disputes o Brief Attorneys and Senior Council to represent the company when necessary e.g. Labour disputes, Arbitration etc. o Prepare/consult with witnesses in preparation of CCMA cases and gather any relevant evidence o Resolve all cases at the lowest possible level and escalate if needed - To provide an advisory service to manager in order to coach and guide them in ER matters o Assist managers in compiling charges for Disciplinary Hearings o Coach and guide Line Managers to present Disciplinary hearings, Grievances and Disputes o Identify needs of managers, i.e. training needs, knowledge of collective agreements and bargaining agreements o Provide training on basic Labour Law, Co Policies and Procedures in line with best practice - To assist the manager with regards administration for the department in order to ensure accurate and efficient arrangements and recordkeeping are maintained o Compile reports and update case records in conjunction with the ER Administrator o Act as custodian of internal Policy, assist in the formation of internal policy o Assist in the preparation for meetings and negotiations o Chairing of union and management meetings - To keep abreast of all relevant legislation and regulations in order to maintain a current working knowledge o Keep abreast of Labour legislation, best employment Practices eg. Policies and Procedures o Update all relevant Policies and Procedures in the Company and do research on employment and case law o Advise and keep management abreast of all Labour Legislation updates as well best employment practices o Adhere to all Collective agreement, and all policies and legislation o Research legislation or practice as needed to support negotiations and cases, especially previous case precedents o Monitor adherence to policy and legislation and escalate problems - To measure and monitor the ER needs within SAAT in order to offer support where required o Identify ER training needs for Line and HR Management and identify relevant training programs to meet the needs o Monitor support and guide Team Leaders and Managers during Picketing and strike actions o Monitor all Union representative appointments to ensure that a free and fair process has taken place**
Qualifications & Experience**:
- Matric / N3 - NQF 7 - Labour Law / Industrial Relations / Labour Relations - HR Experience (6 years +) - 3 years’ ER Experience (will be an added advantage if in the aviation industry) - Understanding of CCMA case management. (2 years’ experience)**
Knowledge and Skills**:
- Employment Equity Act and related regulations knowledge - Knowledge of BBBEE regulations and related information - Knowledge of Human Resources Policies, Practices and Procedures - Knowledge of Employment Equity Strategy Development - Knowledge of other workplace legislative Acts - Knowledge of the Constitution - Knowledge of Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Health & Safety Act, Skills Development Act and CCMA Rules of Conduct - Computer literate (MS Office) - Ability to construct effective presentations /management reports - Code B driver’s license and a motor vehicle. - Negotiation Skills - Conflict Management - Planning and Organising - Dispute resolution - Interpersonal skills - Facilitation skills - Technical Skills - Report writing - Research Skills**
