**About This Job**:
Astellas is currently hiring a Market Access and Government Affairs Lead to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The role will be reporting directly into the General Manager of South Africa with dotted reporting into the Head of Market Access Middle East Africa (MEA)

**Purpose of the Position**:
As a leader of the function in the affiliate and member of the country management team and MEA market access function, the Market Access and Government Affairs Lead will lead the development of Pricing & Access and Government Affairs strategy in South Africa.
Work with the head of market access MEA and country affiliate team to identify top risks and opportunities in South Africa and will be responsible for developing best-in-class product and pricing submissions and/or re-submissions to national/ regional bodies and private/ local/ hospital payers/insurers in order to increase access to Astellas products
Partner with cross functional teams to develop market assessment for pipeline products, owning the value proposition/Payer Value message of Astellas products to payers at all levels, throughout the product lifecycle.
Contribute to the co-creation of the National Value Strategy Plan, identifying evidence gaps, both clinical and economic and proposing solutions to address the gaps to the global value teams, and developing and delivering a local HTA plan for the requisite portfolio
Engage with stakeholders across the healthcare system including but not limited to government agencies, Council of Medical Schemes, Funders to communicate policy positions and identify opportunities to improve access to current and future Astellas products

**Essential Knowledge & Experience**:
Knowledge and understanding of local pricing and market access issues and needs.
Strong existing relationships with direct and indirect policy makers and tertiary policy influencers (both government and non-government)
A hands-on leader, who brings a sound balance of developing market access strategy and planning and leading the implementation thereafter.

**Preferred Knowledge & Experience**:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Excellent communication skills and ability to develop and maintain good working relations with internal and external stakeholders

**Strong presentation & collaborative skills**: able to work cross-functionally and with virtual teams
