**THE POSITION**

We are looking for a Market Access, Health Care Affairs & Patient Engagement Manager, who will be responsible for supporting the development and awareness of market access strategies to expand and maintain the access of Boehringer Ingelheim medicines and products for health care consumers in South Africa.
Core responsibilities include monitoring, interpreting, and shaping developments and solutions to address gaps in healthcare policies and delivery of companies current and future product portfolio as well as supporting all activities to obtain and maintain access, reimbursement and strategic pricing for of Boehringer Ingelheim medicines and products.

This position is based at Johannesburg and reports to the Head of Market Access, S. Africa.

**TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure the execution of Market Access and Health Care Affairs plans to address local health care challenges
- Develop proactive pricing and reimbursement strategies
- Maintain and manage national access for new and existing products by providing and/or negotiating accurate pricing, reimbursement, and information to respective stakeholders
- Support external interaction with payer stakeholders, including stakeholder strategy, relationship management and development of innovative partnerships
- Monitor the healthcare and political environment and landscape to understand impact of access to medicines and advise on best actions to address national, regional, and local threats and opportunities
- Support cross functional teams in establishing IBP and ICP tactical plans and represent Market Access in brand teams
- Collaborate and build network with internal stakeholders and external partners to build on healthcare strategies, solutions, and execution
- Perform and fulfill KPIs and all other duties assigned in a professional manner and reliably adhere to company policies and good practices
- Maintain expertise and review regulations at national level to understand payer landscape as well as risks, opportunities, and best practices to enhance company portfolio and market access capabilities
- Develop new business opportunities and partnerships with patient organization stakeholders to create healthcare solutions benefiting patients within companies current and future target indications
- Actively participate in relevant regional or global meetings to ensure required needs are addressed and met to successfully implement HCA strategies

**REQUIREMENTS**
- B Pharm / MBBCh / or equivalent Health Sciences qualification is essential
- Should be registered with either the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) or Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
- Minimum 5-7 years of work experience in multinational pharmaceuticals or related within relevant region
- Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry specifically in health economics, outcome research, pricing, value and reimbursement development and execution, and patient engagement
- Previous experience in clinical research and networking with internal and external payer, healthcare and government stakeholders would be an asset
