**Main job function**
The general manager: digital is a critical role within the company as it touches on every aspect of the business
The person in this position must be knowledgeable about the latest digital trends in media
Should have experience in implementing innovative and sustainable models to extend the companies digital footprint and increase revenue, have a deep understanding of the media landscape, latest technologies
Importantly, the general manager: digital must be data-centric and have knowledge in data reporting and hands-on experience of building/using tools and models that allow the optimization of digital platforms to enhance content management and increase subscriptions
The General Manager Digital is also responsible for driving a data-centric approach to all aspects of the business and will play an important role to help drive a change in company culture which will elevate attitudes towards data reporting, data testing and the use of technologies to grow the business

**Manage and oversee projects including**:
Building and maintaining and curating OTT platforms
User and subscription journey across platforms
Mobile app development and maintenance
Photo archive E-commerce site
Oversee other AD-hoc projects such as development of a job page or obituaries page in their publications, provision of dashboards to the internal business, as well as integration to various systems
Implement effective and efficient internal Processes to enable targeted growth
Bridge communication gap between digital and the customer
Offer advice and guidance to external and internal partners on best practice for digital and news media
Hold meeting with stakeholders to ensure measures of accountability, tasks and performance expectations are clear
Be the face of the projects and provide information and steady flow communication
**DevOps Management including**:
Management of output to ensure websites are of high quality and attractive to readers
Rebuild team to replace lost staff and establish new practices for the team
Data Information Management
Managing output by formulating data strategy for the company
Establish new work systems and procedures by re imagining the commercial data analyst role and group expectations
Provide monthly subscriptions data to internal customers
Keep editorial dashboards up to date
Use data to increase subscriptions and to grow editorial teams
Build audience team on how to grow audience segments and subscriber propensity model
Establish new subscription data strategy in conjunction with audience team
Consolidate and standardize IT system supporting digital
De-risking reliance on small or niche vendors
Ensure data is at the heart of every decision made
Help impact change within the business using data tools to inform decisions
Establish own set of data methods to implement across the business
Print system migrations
Keep updated of latest data trends
Maintain a relationship with various stakeholders including Google and social media platforms
Create a culture of testing data theories across the business
Support/courses to learn technical aspect of the business

**Editorial Liaison for Tech and Data - Editorial Product Owner**
Offer guidance on how to grow the product offering, services and enhance our footprint
Ensure that the customer is at the center of everything we do
Offer teams advice on how to improve communication with readers
Through data, provide strategies on how to improve digital registrations
Inform editorial teams on how to manage best practice on websites (production, content strategies, UX/UI, web training)
Meet with group editorial and digital team leaders to identify issues or challenges
Offer strategies to increase web traffic
Implement new communication processes across the business
Help train staff with basic data/tech and Cosmos knowledge
Instill a culture of data driven journalism

Implement focused training interventions aligned with training needs
Strengthen the balance sheet by managing costs within the division
Investigate all old contracts
Explore new areas of growth
Keep updated with new digital/technological developments with industry
Develop plans on how to implement technologies across the titles
Offer support for BBBEE initiatives of the Company and offer guidance to intern programme
Executing exco initiatives
