**Job description**

**JOB SUMMARY**:Efficient running and proactive maintenance of factory equipment

**REPORTS TO**:Maintenance Manager

**INTERACTION WITH**:Production Manager, Supervisors/Production coordinators

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Perform fault finding and ensure that all equipment is operational.

Support the Maintenance Manager in efficient response to internal customer demands.

Ensure that work is carried out according to Health and Safety regulations.

Ensure that job cards for completed work are signed off by internal customer.

Ensure that all job cards are completed correctly.

Ensure that all spares are stored in a secure and access-controlled area.

Communicate with production on any issues relating to breakdowns within the production area.

Ensure regular inspection of all facility equipment.

Upon detecting any defects or malfunctions, immediately repair and refurbish them.

Coordinate with production and other departments for feedback on the functionality of machinery and equipment.

Report all defects and damages to the Maintenance Manager timeously.

Comply with industry standards and safety regulations of working.

Complete all tasks as delegated by the supervising authority.

Maintain all records of the repair and maintenance work conducted in a facility.

Perform preventative maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspect belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, grease bearings, seals, etc.; repair or replace broken parts

Perform building and facility infrastructure basic maintenance.

Respond to emergency electrical, refrigeration and mechanical breakdown requests as required.

Assist with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repair plaster and drywall, paint building structures.

Ensure that spares used are recorded to ensure effective accountability for goods used.

Ensure that all documentation, i.e., checklists are completed regularly

Keep the workshop clean and tidy. Clean as you go

Adhere to all company policies and procedures

Ensure that all check sheets are completed and up to date

Perform any other duties required by your designated departmental manager

**CRITICAL SKILLS NEEDED**:
Knowledge of tools and materials.

Electrical and mechanical knowledge

Basic numeracy skills

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardised situations.

Good people and communication skills

Professional and good work ethic

Spares and stock control

Receive goods on behalf of the company.

Take the lead in installations and commissioning activities.

**QUALIFACTIONS REQUIRED**

Grade 12 or NQF level 3 Qualification

Millwright/Electrician trade test certificate

At least 3 years experience including apprenticeship

Computer literacy

Good administrative skills

Verbal and written communication skills

General refrigeration knowledge will be advantageous

Basic welding skills

Knowledgeable about Utilities. (Boilers, Generators, and Compressors)

**Education**:

- High School (matric) (required)

**Experience**:

- Maintenance Technician: 3 years (required)

License/Certification:

- Millwright/Electrician trade test certificate (required)
