**Purpose**:
The purpose of the Quality Operator is to safely and efficiently inspect and repair material/product, to ensure good quality products are sent to customers. This position reports to the Quality Supervisor.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for inspecting the final product/s at the various roll stations/tables and ensuring that material and product is correctly graded using the D365 system.
- Responsible for repairing material defects and cutting material to the required length or as per the seaming plans to meet customer requirements. Common material defects are knife lines, missing tufts, poor mending and streaks.
- Responsible for monitoring roll widths during inspection, splitting and trimming processes.
- Responsible for ensuring that inspected product is re-rolled: loading of cores and core bungs, cutting correct length plastic and stapling carpet to core using the pneumatic staple gun. Once product is re-rolled, it must be wrapped in the correct material and plastic.
- Responsible for unrolling and rolling of product to display customer returns to management for inspection and packing product accordingly as per managements request.
- Ensure that core bungs are removed from used cores; cores must be moved to designated area before/after cleaning. Cores are recycled to minimise waste.
- Responsible for communicating and escalating issues experienced on machine or irregularities on the product to the supervisor
- Responsible for removing waste material and ensuring good housekeeping in reinspection and area around it
- Work within the company and departments rules and regulation
- Must be able to follow any reasonable instruction given by superior.
- Observe and adhere to Health and Safety requirements

**Requirements**:

- Good Communication skills
- Must have good product knowledge and grading experience
- 1-year machine operating experience in Quality Re
- Inspection is advantageous.
- Experience in repairing material
- Attention to detail

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 / Matric with Maths
- CTFL Learnership is advantageous
