Job Description:
Pan Boiler – Reporting in the Rawhouse Section

This role involves working in the production area of a sugar manufacturing plant, under the supervision of the Production Shift Foreman. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of batch pans, maintaining stock levels, and achieving the required mill crush rate.

The key performance areas of this role include:
  • Boiling any grade of massecuites in batch pans with minimum delays
  • Maintaining stock levels to achieve the plan mill crush rate
  • Cycling pans to prevent bottlenecks and achieve the required number of strikes per shift
  • Applying problem-solving skills to resolve difficulties with batch pans
  • Awareness of quality profiles on various grades of massecuites boiled and notifying supervisors of abnormal changes
  • Striking massecuites at required brix levels
  • Awareness of entrainment that may occur from any pan and taking corrective action to prevent loss of sugar
  • Carrying out pan inspections on schedule stop dates and reporting defects for remedial action by maintenance department
  • Adjusting pan cycles to maximize production while minimizing delays and losses
  • Performing operations under safe conditions and maintaining high standards of housekeeping
  • Recording and reporting maintenance requirements and performing minor maintenance tasks
  • Contributing to decision-making processes on the pan floor
  • Carrying out duties of the Pan Tank Attendant when necessary
  • Taking ownership of section housekeeping and safety
