PURPOSE
To **run the allocated jobs on the B.C.F machine**, to **produce product** according to the **shift production plan**, in line with the agreed **quality standards** and **product specifications** during an allocated shift to ensure that Belgotex Customer Service, Volume and operational efficiencies are realized through efficient production, adherence to plan and high-quality output of manufactured product.
SPAN OF CONTROL
This role is responsible for producing B.C.F products on the allocated machines during the shift.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & OUTPUTS
Production Management - Deep Focus
- **Run B.C.F Line **Machine to produce product to achieve the shift production plan (volumes across all the machines) ensuring **product specifications** and **quality standards** are adhered to. This including:
- String up machine as required.
- Remove full bobbins from winder bobbin tray, place the correct bobbin sticker on the inside of each cone, tie the loose and of yarn around each bobbin. Wrap each bobbin in plastic packets. Then place each packed bobbin into the correct crate.
- Place 2 empty tubes on the winder for the next doff.
- Clean all positions thoroughly, opening all doors and clearing all drip trays.
- Wipe all godets with a damp rag and clean the Texturizers with a Pig’s hairbrush and water after every break.
- Wash and clean the floors around your machine.
- You will be required to operate all types of machines found in this department, meaning that you will be moved from machine type to machine type from time to time.
- You will isolate all substandard bobbins and yarn and place them into their correctly graded crate, or cut up any grade 2 yarn
- You will be required to fetch all new boxes of cones from the storage area in the old tower.
- You will also be required to help the fork lift driver push and pull full crates as well as fetch empty crates.
- You will be required to assist Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor or any higher authority.
- Keep spin packs clean.
- Notify supervisor immediately of spin packs blocking.
- Help supervisor change spin packs when required.
- Assist fellow operator when required.
- Come to work 5 minutes early, find out from the off going operators of any problems experienced on his shift.
- Observe all safety precautions.
- Perform other tasks as required by the supervisor or higher authority.
- Carry out all tasks as per documented department procedures.
- Drop or pick up yarn as required by machine operators.
- Ensure that there are no blocked holes and that spineret surfaces are clean and free of excess melt.
- Ensure that quench cabinets are clean at all times.
- Ensure that the floor and surroundings are kept clean.
- Report all unusual leaks and noises.
- Place Quench waste in a suitable place, whilst waiting to send all waste to the forklift driver for weighing.
Production Metrics
- Track all production made during the shift against the production plan and be able to supply the Shift Supervisor with an update.
- Track Grade 2, off quality and other waste levels during shift production to look for trends and work with the Shift Supervisor to find long term solutions.
Stakeholder relationships
- Attend daily shift team briefings and relay critical information to the Shift Supervisor to be constantly updated of issues requiring attention.
- Constantly update the shift supervisor on quality standards and product specific issues during the shift
- Work with the other shift operators to implement solutions to quality defects or product specification issues detected.
Reporting and Documentation
- Ensure that all processes, recipes, and production specifications are **documented** into required SOP and process flow formats and stored centrally as per agreed document management system.
- Ensure the most up to date SOPs and _transactional documentation_ are followed to ensure consistency of process.
- Work with the Shift Supervisor to implement **continuous improvement** processes to improve output, reduce variability and manage operational constraints.
Safety, Health, Environment - We Tread Softly
- Perform all shift activities that ensure compliance with applicable safety, health and environment legislation and audit requirements.
- Report any safety defects to the Shift Supervisor.
- Clean the Fibre department to ensure that housekeeping standards are always maintained.
- Ensure housekeeping is kept to **5S standard.**:
- Ensure machines and areas around B.C.F Line are always kept clean.
Follow any reasonable work instruction as may be required from time to time
**REQUIREMENTS**:
Knowledge and skill
- Ability and skill to operate the B.C.F Line machine according to quality standards and product specifications is an added advantage.
- Must not be colour blind.
- Must have good vision (to see the finer details in Fibre manufacturing)
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001,18001 is an advantage.
- At least 6 months experience as a machine operator.
