Operations Manager

**INTRODUCTION**:
Are you a_ Qualified _Engineer_ with at least 5 years working & management experience? Our client is on the hunt for a Dynamic **_Operations Manager_**_ _with outstanding organizational and leadership skills to assume the responsibility for the Operational management of all aspects of _operational and maintenance_ contracts in the region. (This position will report into the Regional Operations & Maintenance Manager.)
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE**:
- BTech / BSc in an engineering field (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or Water)
- A minimum of 5 years working experience (must be in the operation of process plants.)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing O&M teams and projects
- Experience in Project / Operational Contract Management in Services Environment, particularly utilising internationally recognised Conditions of Contract (such as FIDIC, GCC, NEC).
- Thorough knowledge of commercial terms.
- Understanding Commercial Terms. Forward cover, forex, Incoterms
- Background in Law of Contract and Law and Practice of Arbitration would be advantageous
**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Implementation of the Scope of Work for each Operations & Maintenance contract in accordance with the contractual requirements
- Monitor and manage the financial aspects of regional Operations including financial; update / forecasts and CAPEX requirements.
- Manage and ensure effective internal and external resources to support O&M Contracts.
- Work with Business Support as and when required to improve operational efficiencies
- Monitor and manage O&M staff, external resources, sub-contractors, suppliers and site
- Risk management of all contracts in the region
- Continuous review of contract performance contractual requirements and profitability
- Implementation of Standard Operating Procedures aligned with the SOW for each O&M Contract.
- Continued review and improvement of SoW and SOP’s on all contract with support of Business Support division
- Ensure that O&M contracts are executed in accordance with the contractual requirements and the developed SOP’s in order to avoid scope creep.
- Ensure that all O&M contracts as sufficiently staffed with adequately qualified and trained personnel
- Continuously improve personal knowledge on all products using assistance of internal personnel or approved external sources.
- Engagement with Business Support division for any operational improvement, TCO and chemical opportunities / improvements
- Ensure that contract margin does not deteriorate through effective management of CPA and all input costs (fixed and variable) and suppliers
- Establish and maintain a positive and informative relationship with all clients.
- OHSACT 16.2 responsible for Operations in the region
- Maintain and update divisional financial reports.
- Manage your expenses within budget, through clearing all proposed expenditure with the Divisional Manager
- Manage site stock levels and do monthly stock reports
- Maintain and sustain contact with existing customers.
- Manager the schedule for the Service Specialist to ensure contractual compliance.
- Review monthly reports to customers and engage with customer on any deviations.
- Troubleshoot existing sites to resolve any technical difficulty experienced
- Responsible for ensuring that health and safety legislation and contractual obligations pertaining to health and safety are adhered to.
- Perform tests to ensure quality of treated water produced.
- Read and understand the latest ISO9001 manual for the procedures pertaining to the Operations Division.
- Communicate with clients and all company staff in a professional manner.
**FINANCIAL & ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES**:
- Assume financial responsibility for the operational / production costs of all regionally operated contracts, including the formulation of budgets and adhering to these budgets, also ensuring that all internal and external resources respect the budgets.
- Approval of Purchase Order, Supplier Invoices, Expense Claims within Authorisation Limits.
- Produce detailed minutes on all production / operational meetings held.
- Keep all operational files in hard copy, alternatively on the Company data server in order and up to date at all times.
- Review and updating of job descriptions for operating and maintenance staff.
- Recruitment of staff, staff rosters, approving expenses and overtime.
- Implementing key performance indicators for production / operating staff and ensuring the role out of these.
- Invoicing the client.
- Ensure adequate and trained staff is employed to meet our obligations.
- Collate information from field reports, inspections and contractual documentation for inclusion into management reports.
- Complete investigative reports, recording details of findings from inspections / observations / tests and forwards to management for perusal and guidance on unresolved /pending outcomes.
