You will be working as a SCM Team Lead and will be the part of Motion Business Area for Service Division based in Alberton, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Production Manager and will be responsible for, lead a functional work team of Buyers, SCM Specialists and/or Analysts to deliver accurate and timely SCM activities like transactional purchasing, e-Sourcing, data management and reporting. Ensure execution in accordance with Company and Supply Chain Management (SCM) instructions and procedures.
**Your responsibilities**:
- Manage execution and tracking of procurement activities within the team, while ensuring quality of delivery service at improved transactional cost. Ensure buyers minimize risk regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and in accordance with Company guidelines.
- Coach and mentor, the functional work team. Ensure that the team has appropriate skills and competencies to coordinate the SCM activities.
- Execute the implementation, operation, maintenance and performance of Supply Chain systems within the GBS SCM Center. Secure full utilization of SAP Ariba global supplier relationship management platform according to relevant procedure, both related to sharing of supplier information and to finding existing high performing suppliers to ABB.
- Investigate problems, finds root cause and recommend improvement to existing and planned SCM processes. Record interdepartmental NCRs to send to QC for further analysis.
- Ensure suppliers meet current and future business needs through supplier performance evaluation, and contract negotiations.
- Ensure (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed, guide, motivate and develop direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies and Group Supply Chain Management excellence guidelines (knowledge management, functional training, etc.). Responsible for coordinating SCM talent management and succession planning within assigned area.
**Your background**:
- Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain management, Logistics or relevant field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, business management or equivalent.
- 3 years Leadership experience.
- Must have SAP Experience, SAP Ariba is also important.
- Strong understanding of commercial terms in trade, supply chain and finance (incoterms, NWC, leverage, be able to analyze and understand financial statements, variance analysis, Just-In-Time, risk identification etc).
- Experience in leading a team in manufacturing or project environment, working with local and international suppliers is advantageous.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English language is a must.
