- Your responsibilities and tasks:

- Assisting Proposal Engineers with day-to-day activities which includes customer visits, engineering, calculations, costing estimates, open tenders, reporting and presentations.
- Developing and updating spreadsheets used for analyzing site data, heat load estimates, coefficient of performance (COP) calculations, energy efficiencies and comparing systems.
- Assist with compiling reports for customers, site surveys and findings.
- Send out RFQ’s to vendors and suppliers that include prices for material, crane hire, rigging, electrical control panels, equipment rentals and site related costs for P&G’s such as accommodation, travelling, etc.
- Assist with tenders, developing bill of materials (BOM) for piping, insulation, cables, sending out RFQ’s as well as specifications to vendors and equipment suppliers. Develop spreadsheets summarizing and comparing equipment specifications and prices.
- Conduct site surveys at industrial refrigeration installations to obtain equipment details, plant operating conditions, product throughput figures, power consumption and other site related information like layout drawings, P&ID’s and wiring diagrams.
- Capture site details from site surveys, including information obtained by other Proposal Engineers within the Team, analyze and present data in workable, presentable format (Excel).
- Regular customer visits within GEA Africa’s area of responsibility i.e., Southern and Eastern Africa.
- Develop a clear understanding of GEA refrigeration & heating products and equipment on offer; includes selection of GEA compressors, chillers, heat pumps or GEA Omni control systems by using RT Select.
- Prepare basic layout drawings to be used in proposal documents, RFQ’s and presentations with the assistance from the GEA drawing office.
- Research and collating of data related to projects, products or equipment using ASHRAE, IIR, IIAR, SAIRAC or associations (RMAA, SAPA).
- Attend regular training sessions that will include compulsory Health & Safety training, GEA product training, seminars, online training and GEA Workday Learning.
- Assist with day-to-day administration that includes printing, binding proposals, setting up IT for presentations.
- Assist with coordinating proposal engineers travel itineraries, planning on customer visits with relevant communication with travel agents, clients and local GEA managers or technicians.
- Assist with and manage the order to project process with relative documents, spread sheets and communication once an order (PO) is received.
- Attend weekly sales meetings and compile and action/minutes schedule for any designated tasks from said meetings.
- Compile a data base of site photographs, pictures and drawings for use in new proposal or sales presentations.
- Any reasonable ad hoc task requested by his/her superiors must be adhered to and completed in a safe manner.

Your profile and qualifications:

- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Preferable
- Ability to read and interpret designs/detailed CAD drawings (Autodesk Plant P&ID, 3D and AutoCAD)
- Profound knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Projects)
- Good report writing and presentation skills
- Proficient in English
- Good people skills and Teamwork
- Solution oriented & strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills (written, oral & listening)
- Sound analytical ability & attention to detail
