The incumbent is responsible for overseeing all broadcast facilities, equipment, logistics, projects/special projects and inventory management within eMedia.

Comply with work rules, standards and methods. Take care to minimize waste.

**Maintenance, Equipment and Inventory Management**

Coordinate the equipment requirements with the team and arrange for equipment sign-out and/or transfer to off-site venue.

Ensure the safe storage and maintenance of equipment.

Check that equipment complies with safety rules and quality criteria.

Ensure, maintain and protect inventory records for all supplies and equipment.

**Management**

Training, mentoring and performance management of Lighting Storeman.

Ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Administrative control of this function, including management of budget, leave and technical requirements.

Resolving and/or escalating problems should they arise.

Have a proven track record of successfully supervising a team in a complex, fast passed environment.

**Technical**

Have a thorough understanding of broadcast equipment used in the broadcasting industry.

Keep abreast of all latest broadcasting equipment and technology.

Provide technical support and co-ordinate and oversee outside broadcasts as required.

All equipment must be tracked, inspected and maintained to deliver function/s/output to the expected standard.

Ability to effectively troubleshoot technical systems with staff in a timely manner.

Must be proficient in the safe use of trade related tools and equipment.

**Liaising**

Liaise with third party partners to monitor and ensure delivery of broadcast partners contractual commitments.

Provide technical broadcast and facilities support to the Technical Operations team.

Maintain a defined list of suppliers and/or service agreements for the timeous repairs, maintenance /upkeep and replacement/purchase of equipment as applicable.

**Outside Broadcast Operations Management**

Travel to and conduct site surveys to verify resource/production requirements (equipment, cabling, lighting, studios) for outside broadcast.

Provide relevant quotes and information for either purchase or rental of the required equipment.

Maintain ongoing communication with the Manger: Field Operations and production team and on-site technical teams ensuring that all production requirements are fulfilled.

Oversee the rigging, technical storage and studios for the outside broadcast.

Oversee maintenance schedules and equipment shipping schedules based on production requirements and liaising with the engineering department to provide the relevant technical support.

Provide monthly facilities, equipment and vehicles status reports to management on the outside broadcast facilities.

Assists the SNG Engineers with testing of relevant equipment needed for the outside broadcast.

Manage and co-ordinate the project from rigging to transmission to de-rigging.

Ensure that operational schedules for all live and pre-recorded deadlines are met.

**Broadcast Facilities / Studios**

Proactivelly monitor all platforms by ensuring the broadcast facilities are fully operational to avoid equipment failures by implementing rehearsals and equipment checks.

Provide monthly communication to management on the status of the broadcast facilities, sound equipment, lighting, cameras and video wall.

Liaising and communicating with the engineering department to provide relevant technical support or maintenance for studios, lighting, and all other broadcast facilties.

Provide relevant quotations on equipment purchases for review and sign off by Head: Technical Operations.

Liaising and communicating with set builders to provide relevant maintenance or upgrades for the studios and all other broadcast facilities.

**Qualifications**

National Senior Certificate - Essential

3-Year National Diploma in Engineering and/or Electronics
- Essential

**Experience**

8 years in Broadcast/Engineering - Essential

3 years in a Management capacity - Essential

Driver's License - Essential

Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) - Recommended

Own Vehicle - Essential
