Business Development Coordinator: Clients

The Business Development Coordinator: Clients plays a key role in supporting to drive business growth by supporting client development, managing client relationships, and coordinating business development initiatives to identify new opportunities, working closely with lawyers and other stakeholders.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years' experience in business development or a related field within a corporate, legal or professional services environment essential
  • Completed Degree/ Diploma in a relevant field required
  • Understanding of professional services advisory and legal industry and client development principles
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and project management skills with internal stakeholders and at times with clients
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks

Key Accountabilities and Activities:

Client Development

  • Support assigned client teams in developing and executing client plans, including researching client strategies, challenges, and industry trends
  • Assisting in the creation of client plans, including setting goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Monitoring and evaluating client plan progress, identifying areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with client teams to identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of client relationships, including key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders

Client Relationship Management

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date client information, including client contact details and communication, client relationship history, and client interactions
  • Conduct regular data quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of client information
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to provide insights on client relationships and trends

Business Development Initiatives

  • Develop, advise, and support the implementation of BD initiatives, campaigns, and projects related to clients, including client events, seminars, and webinars
  • Collaborate with lawyers, BD team members, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for BD initiatives
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform BD initiatives and ensure they align with client needs and goals
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of BD initiatives and provide recommendations for improvement

Research and Analysis

  • Conduct research on existing and prospective clients, analysing internal and external data to identify insights, trends, and opportunities
  • Provide recommendations and actionable insights to support client development and BD initiatives
  • Support in maintaining the knowledge management system to store and share research findings on client initiatives

Reporting and Insights

  • Analyse data and provide actionable insights to support client development and BD initiatives, including client relationship metrics
  • Collaborate with lawyers and BD team members to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address them
  • Provide support to lawyers and other stakeholders on using data and insights to inform client development and BD initiatives

Submissions:

  • Support in the coordination of client proposals in line with the new business protocol document
  • Preparation of briefing notes for partners in preparation for client meetings

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with lawyers, BD team members, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Coordinate meetings, compile notes and key action items
  • Share knowledge and best practices
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between teams to ensure alignment on all client-related initiatives

Project Management

  • Coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Support in the development and maintenance of project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, and develop contingency plans as needed

Relationship Building

  • Develop and maintain relationships with all levels of lawyers and key stakeholders
  • Be a trusted advisor to client relationship teams
  • Work closely with BD management team to ensure alignment in our overall approach

Management and Leadership

  • Support the Client Relationship Manager in managing the development and operation of an effective high-performing team.
