Principal Accountabilities
Oversee and directs daily operation of Central Alarm station (CAS) and the secondary alarm station (SAS), which includes monitoring of CCTV and promptly respond to incidences.
- Ensure all equipment in both Central and secondary alarm stations are in the working condition at all times, this includes all CCTV cameras visible on the screen and recording of footages.
- Ensure that alarms are responded and attended to within the prescribed time - frame and according to approved procedures.
- Respond to serious incidents and disasters; notify relevant role-players to activate site emergency procedures and contingency plans when necessary.
- Must immediately report any actual or suspected serious disturbance, act of terrorism, treason, attack, riot, strike, natural disaster or any other incident, which is likely to affect the safety of the NKP and request the necessary assistance, if required.
- Ensure proper positioning of CCTV cameras on site and facilities for optimal use and promptly report, record and follow-up of all malfunctioning security systems with Security System Unit.
- To instruct the security officers under his or her command in the nature of their functions and duties.
- Ensure that competent personnel are deployed in both Central and secondary alarm station.
- Identify and recommend training needs of his / her shift members.
- Conduct post related induction on newly appointed security officers.
- Conduct performance evaluations for his / her shift members.
Monitoring and assessment of security systems within the Security Central and Secondary alarm stations (CAS & SAS).
- Monitoring of emergency & non-emergency signals and information received via electronic, digital and/or other telecommunication systems using integrated security systems and equipment, including IT based security systems.
- Using the surveillance systems as a proactive security measures based on a pattern of observations.
- Processing of information received that may include but not limited to: physical observation, briefings, reports, occurrence book entries, pocket book entries, and electronic data.
- Assess signals, information, and categorising according to levels of priority.
- Monitoring of Access/Egress portals and distinguishing between the normal and abnormal conditions, risks, and threats pertaining to the area of responsibility in a factual and accurate manner.
- Using the surveillance systems to complement, routine patrols, surveillance of high risk or sensitive areas, investigations, and legal proceedings.
Initiation of appropriate action when dealing with security incidents, emergencies and evacuations
- Emergency response protocols are initiated and executed according to SSD procedures and best practices. The hierarchy of Incident Command is maintained.
- Types of possible reactions are identified appropriate to the threats and risks observed.
- Liaise and prompt reporting to the Shift Commander and relevant stakeholders on any observed security incident.
- Awareness is maintained of the potential risks and threats associated with the response.
Communications and Operational Control
- Maintaining a communications link with the Shift Commander, Tactical Security Unit, and the Incident Management Teams.
- Providing regular situational reports to ensure all role players are informed on the development of the situation.
- Prioritising the flow of crucial and relevant information regarding incidents and situations.
- Provide factual and accurate feedback on the situation obtained including information received from the role players responding to the situation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
KEY KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge of NKP Competency Shooting Table Standards.
- Meets the NKP Prescribed Physical Fitness Standards.
- Basic Knowledge of Security Nuclear course.
- Familiar with NECSA facilities and premises.
- A comprehensive understanding of relevant CAS computer technology.
- A comprehensive understanding of police and emergency services structures.
- A comprehensive understanding of workplace specific codes & signals.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Academic:
- National Diploma in Security Management or equivalent Law qualification.
- Security Electronic Systems training course.
- Control Room Operations training course.
Professional:
- PSIRA Grade B
- NKP certificate of competency
General:
- Driver’s licence: Code B or higher.
Experience
- At least 5-10 years’ experience in the Security environment.
- Experience in working at a National Key Point environment will be an added advantage.
