Head of Procurement | Manufacturing Industry | Pretoria-West, Gauteng

My client is seeking a seasoned and technically savvy Head of Procurement to lead their procurement team and drive their strategic sourcing initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in ethical tender processes, the ability to work under pressure, and a proven track record of creating order and streamlining procurement processes. International procurement experience is essential for this role. (A minimum of 10 years)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the procurement team, providing guidance and support to achieve procurement goals.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's objectives and values.

  • Oversee the tender process, ensuring it is conducted ethically and in compliance with South African regulations.

  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors.

  • Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

  • Ensure procurement activities support the manufacturing process and production schedules.

  • Manage risks associated with procurement, including supply chain disruptions and price fluctuations.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the procurement function.

 

Desired Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Professional qualifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) are highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.

  • Extensive experience in managing international procurement.

  • Proven expertise in ethical tender processes and compliance with South African procurement legislation.

  • Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency in procurement software and systems.

  • Achievement of cost savings targets.

  • Successful management of the tender process and supplier relationships.

  • Streamlining of procurement processes to enhance efficiency.

  • Effective risk management and mitigation strategies.

  • Contribution to the overall success of the manufacturing operation through strategic procurement.

 

Contract Details:

  • This is a limited-duration contract position from 1 July 2024 to 31 December 2024.
