Qualification/Skills/Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Sales Management and Key Accounts functions which includes managing complex and significant customer relationships
  • Minimum 5 years experience in transporting and warehousing
  • Knowledge of the Transport & Warehousing market and environment will be advantageous
  • Knowledge and understanding of transporting and warehousing business and legal fundamentals
  • Applied sales management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated successful relationships with key customers resulting in profitable opportunities
  • Bachelors degree in business, MBA preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills
  • Must be prepared to travel
  • Must reside in Cape Town

Purpose of the Job:

  • To oversee and manage the national sales function and activities with an emphasis on establishing sustainable, longterm relationships with partners and key customers whilst developing market share through implementing specific sales strategies.
  • To ensure sales results, execution, activities and strategies are aligned with the pillars KPIs and operating plan; to drive the sales growth in South Africa through qualitative management.
  • To lead, develop and support the sales force to deliver profitable and sustainable results.
  • To build strategies for the future to grow the business.

General Trade strategy:

  • Be responsible for the general trade strategy implementation
  • To develop marketing strategies and new business models and oversee their implementation and execution
  • To develop new markets and business opportunities in the general trade

General Trade sales:

  • To prepare, present and ensure execution of the sales budgets, pricing, rebates and services.
  • To ensure proper information and payment conditions are properly managed
  • To ensure the overall profitability of the various segments as well as excellent customer service
Grow the sales in both the markets (Transport & Warehousing)
Enhance existing business
Sign up new business

To remain competitive in the market.

Be Agile

People Management:

  • To ensure all HR functions are executed according to the practices and principles, in terms of training and development To manage the team, encouraging timeous and accurate reporting on all activities, as well as motivation and customerservice orientation
  • HSEQ: Health, Safety, Environment and quality
  • Manage the HSEQ and security of the Area to ensure constant adherence and compliance to the Company's standards, any local bylaws and government legislation.
  • To effectively manage and minimse HSE risk within area of responsibility.

General:

  • To ensure critical skills and positions are identified
  • To ensure succession plans is in place for direct reports and updates
Environmental Context

  • Tension in to achieving an effective balance between marketing benefits and profitability for both Customers and business
  • Identify financially viable solutions to ensure longterm sustainable and profitable business in a highly contested market where customers have the freedom of choice
  • Product security engage with Supply to ensure product security to this market
Key Accountabilities/Outcomes

Divisional Strategy Formulation and Implementation:

  • Formulate short and longterm divisional strategies to deliver sustainable, profitable growth, consistent with the compan's strategic plans.
  • Evaluate and monitor competitors and their activities and formulate proactive responses when required.
  • Develop and monitor annual Customer Business Plans.
  • Manage and penetrate key accounts at both national and regional level, develop relationships that enable the achievement of all national and regional customer business plans.
Account and Customer Relationship Management

  • Have direct contact with all key customers, whether national or regional accounts.
  • Negotiate programs with national and regional account customers.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with key opinion leaders in the market to form future planning and sales focus.
Operational Management and Divisional Leadership

  • Provide leadership and sales strategy to continuously grow the sales division
  • Responsible for all sales force effectiveness interaction and planning.
  • Conduct, formulate and implement a sales strategy
  • The development, performance monitoring and review of all direct reports
  • Lead, plan, monitor and provide guidance to the sales team
  • Quarterly analysis of sales performance
Managing of Warehouse and Distribution Partners

  • Accountable for Warehouse management in all depots. Ensure close monitoring of warehousing. Also ensure that basic warehouse principles are implemented
