The role also requires building the business through cultivating critical partnerships and relationships, conducting fund-raising for discrete projects, management of temporary and permanent staff, reporting, and other business requirements.

In addition, the MD is also accountable for gathering and analysing market and business intelligence to inform strategy, and operational execution for current and future competitiveness.


Job Objectives:

Strategy and Business Generation

  • Support the development and execution of agreed engagements from concept to completion Provide input into and work with relevant Colleagues and stakeholders to develop, implement and monitor the overall strategy.
  • Spearhead the development, communication, and implementation of effective strategies and processes to contribute to overall growth, performance, and financial sustainability.
  • Develop and implement tactical strategies to drive the NPO towards its goals and mission.
  • Identify opportunities across the value chain that may be appropriate for SOLVE.
  • Identify, assess, and pursue new development opportunities and partnerships.
  • Work with crossfunctional teams to identify and evaluate potential areas of engagement and impact amplification.
  • Lead and support the capital raising process, effectively presenting information to potential sponsors and funders
  • Research and read the market in terms of what opportunities and developments may arise.
  • Identify, assess, and pursue new organisational and project opportunities and partnerships for SOLVE

Operational Management

  • Drive operational and financial results by working closely with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the company's daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. This includes making key decisions related to operations.
  • Work closely with the senior management team to create, implement, and roll out plans for operational processes, internal structures, reporting systems, and company policies all designed to foster sustainability and efficiencies.
  • Set ambitious and achievable goals for growth, performance, and sustainability.
  • Create effective measurement tools.
  • Collaboratively plan and oversee multiple projects / processes simultaneously.
  • Ensure project outcomes are aligned with SOLVE's mission and objectives.
  • See defined projects through to successful completion.
  • Accountable for tracking the delivery of projects against milestones.
  • Conduct timeous performance reviews.

Financial Management

  • Manage finances in collaboration with the Waterfront's Financial Department.
  • Assist with fundraising for defined projects, and build good networks.
  • Allocate funds in accordance with the reporting requirements of the funder.
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
  • Drive and deliver all revenue and client satisfaction targets.
  • Make recommendations for costsaving measures.
  • Reporting to the Board, Executives etc.

People Management

  • Build and maintain high performance and engagement within the team to deliver on SOLVE's objectives.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration and innovation within the NPO, and between it and its stakeholders.
  • Provide support, guidance and mentorship to, and development of, staff and external service providers.
  • Provide management to staff, and leadership to the organisation, to align with SOLVE's and the Waterfront's overall strategic vision.
  • Take responsibility for timely, accurate and fair performance management feedback and support.
  • Set challenging and achievable goals for growth and performance.
  • Recruit and manage permanent and temporary staff.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage and oversee professional engagement with key clients, stakeholders, and industry bodies to ensure satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including staff, clients, partners, funders, suppliers etc.
  • Meet, interact, and present project information to potential funders and sponsors.
  • Ensure professional public communication and relationships with local and international stakeholders.
  • Monthly reporting as required to the V&A Waterfront Executive team etc.

Research and Thought Leadership

  • Gather and analyse market and business intelligence to inform strategy and project execution.
  • Drive innovation and improvement by creating a culture of continuous learning, this includes encouraging employees to suggest new ideas and methods and promoting a learning and development culture.
  • Ensure the delivery of projects that are fitforpurpose and meet evolving market needs.
  • Advance and advocate forwardthinking initiatives.

Educational Requirements:

  • Relevant bachelor's degree
  • Higher degree advantageous
