The following rewarding career opportunity in Human Resources exists for a proactive and dynamic individual.

The Associate Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for the delivery of HR service excellence, in solution and support, to relevant stakeholders to enable the achievement of SAMRC and HR strategic objectives.

The incumbent will direct and support the HR Functional areas, responsible for Employee Relations (ER) and Human Resources generalist activities in the HIV and other Infectious Diseases Unit (HIDRU) to ensure that the unit complies with labour and employment related legislation and HR practices.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and policy support and training for managers to implement and oversee Employee Relations and Grievance procedures.
  • Advise on SAMRC restructuring processes & managing impact on employees.
  • Assist in managing relationships with organised labour to maintain good employment relations.
  • Represent the unit at the CCMA and facilitate representation at Labour Court with support from ER specialist.
  • Train and support of managers to execute disciplinary process, to present and chair a disciplinary hearing.
  • Assist HIDRU managers with managing poor and under performance and probation monitoring.
  • Prepare Contact extensions for the HIDRU employees.
  • Prepare Short term contract documents for temporary employees in HIDRU for HR approval.
  • Assist the Managers to schedule Performance appraisals, contracting and Midyear reviews, including tracking and submission to HR.
  • Liaise with HIDRU Finance manager and unit and site leaders regarding funding, for new and vacant posts including allocation of employees to sites.
  • Assist the HRBP with recruitment, section, and appointments for HIDRU.
  • Prepare HR EMC submissions for Unit Director and Deputy Director
  • Assist managers with career progression/advancement submissions and performance appraisal appeals.
  • Facilitate engagement of Unit leadership with unit Diversity & Transformation Forum on related HR matters.
  • Training and Skills Development partner with the HIDRU Regulatory and Quality Department to provide Annual training Report (ATR) and Workplace Skills Plan (WSP)
  • Liaise with HIDRU finance manager regarding seed funding/ study support budget.
  • Coordinate Individual Development Plan oversight by managers.
  • Coordinate Unit CPD (Continued Professional Development) Activities

Core Requirements**:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or Employee Relations or related field
years Human Resources Generalist experience with at least 2-3 years ER related experience

  • Solid working knowledge of the principles and practices of employee and labour relations
  • Knowledge of CCMA and Labour Court processes
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and executing programs that measurably impact positive employee relations.
  • Excellent organizational skills

Advantageous:

  • Postgraduate degree in Labour / Employment Law / Postgraduate diploma in Employee Relations
  • Handling negotiations & consultations in unionized environment
  • Registered with SABPP
A salary in the region of R per annum, cost-to-company will be negotiated in consideration of experience and qualifications.
