Who are we?


Sanlam Developing Markets [SDM] (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited) is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market.

It aims to understand the unique requirements of clients and offers a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions that cover needs such as funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover and personal accident plans.

In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group.

The cluster focusses on retail products, as well as group schemes.

What will you do?

  • Support the Channel Head with Granular Operational input consolidated into themes and trends to enable informed decisions making for the channel
  • Institutional knowledge around Sanlam Sky processes and procedures with a deep understanding of the needs of independent financial advisors in the Retail Mass environment.
    Product Champion

Collate Research:

  • Liaison between Broker division and client solutions
  • Formulate product feedback and recommendations
  • Give client solutions input on surveys and how to interact with all stakeholders
  • Co-Sign off on all product related issues that require broker division input
  • Monitor and feedback to broker division on product related MIS
  • Track product sales and monitor trends
  • Track product mix from a sales perspective with the assistance of finance
  • Co-Sign off on training material
  • Input and sign off on specific and strategic training interventions (BC induction, Exec consulting 1 & 2, SAI Induction)

Marketing:

  • Collate feedback from the business when required
  • Drive marketing related initiatives and communication around these within the business
  • Brand Initiatives
  • Ensure that marketing initiatives are communicated to brokers & SAI's through Broker and SAI news to improve brand perception
  • Drive brand specific initiatives from marketing

Duties:

Business Analytics:

  • Interpretation and analysis of data, and present this in a way that makes sense to the sales management team
  • Analysis of production and quality trends
  • Guide the management team based on the analysis done against objectives set in broker divisions KRA's
  • Responsible to set and track targets at regional and BC/BD level.
  • Work with finance to drive the annual budgeting process taking future growth scenario's that has been agreed upon into the planning.
  • Responsible to track strategic deliverables through MIS.
  • Input into management specific MIS to drive strategic directives of the business

Remuneration:

  • Responsible to design and consult on remuneration models within broker division
  • Make remuneration recommendations on new appointments
  • Evaluate and recommend BC/BD production tiers
  • Monitor and evaluate our remuneration models on an ongoing basis.
  • Suggest changes and drive changes to REM.

Communication:

  • Responsible for all communication from broker division to stakeholders
  • Responsible for content and managing of SAI news and Broker News
  • Draw up / sign off on communication to the business
  • Ensure that all communication is in line with the strategic focus of the business
  • Facilitate change management within the business through various communication lines
  • Manage key messages that go out to brokers and SAI's

Risk Management:

  • Responsible for identifying and tracking key risks within the business
  • Track key drivers nationally and regionally and report back to the business
  • Tasked with identifying solutions to identified risks within the business
  • Working with operations to mitigate sales related risks

Strategic:

  • Responsible for planning related to new appointments and resource use across the business
  • Responsible for working with finance to plan:
  • Manpower requirements
  • Resource allocation
  • Production cycles
  • Regional targets
  • BC and BD targets
  • Oversight over new sales appointments to ensure alignment to BD culture
  • Tracking strategic direction and reporting progress to the business
  • Input into expansion and footprint of regional structures to ensure that they fit into the strategic direction of the business as well as Manex budgets
  • Engage with role players across the business to drive strategic initiatives for BD around:
  • Brand Presence
  • Worksite initiatives

Rewards and Incentives:

  • Responsible to design and consult on incentive models within broker division annually
  • Responsible to design competitions for Broker Division
  • Tasked with overseeing the planning of incentive trips and sales conferences
  • Responsible to track competitions within broker division on an ongoing basis and ensure alignment to our key drivers
  • Draw up content for all brochures and other marketing material related to competitions and incentives within the business
