HEAD OF HOUSEKEEPING

A luxurious boutique hotel group requires a Head Housekeeper to assume the responsibility for the housekeeping operations for two hotels and a restaurant.

Ensuring a five-star guest experience is upheld through the effective management of the housekeeping department and team.

KEY FOCUS AREAS

  • Housekeeping Management
  • To assume the full responsibility of the Housekeeping operations of the Cape Town based Hotels and Restaurant.
  • To meet your manager monthly or as required and update on property operations.
  • To maintain and ensure the goodwill of the hotel brand at property level.
  • To be a key ambassador.
  • To ensure the effective management of the personnel of the housekeeping department i.e. daily briefs, disciplinary, training, development.
  • To ensure effective monthly departmental meetings take place, accurate minutes are taken and follow ups completed.
  • To be meticulous in housekeeping standards across the hotels and restaurant.
  • To implements standard operating procedures for the department.
  • To effectively manage the storerooms (linen/stock), stock control, budgets and month end reporting.
  • To assist in achieving the best procurement agreements for the property.
  • To keep the property innovative in its guest experience and up to date with both competitor offerings and current trends in the hospitality industry.
  • To be readily available to deal with all guest queries and complaints.
  • To drive and monitor the effective implementation and execution of Performance Management and Succession Planning processes with your team.
  • To manage the assigned property to produce a consistent, high quality product, providing a courteous, professional, efficient and flexible service consistent with the company's and property's policies and procedures, to maximize guest satisfaction.
  • To demonstrate and promote flexibility and adaptability towards changing working hours and shifts according to the requirements of a 24hour operation.
  • To maintain and promote good working relationships with own colleagues and all other departments and properties.
REQUIREMENTS - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Grade 12 (essential)
  • Degree/Diploma in Tourism/Hospitality (advantageous)
  • Sound experience in Housekeeping Management positions minimum 5 years.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Sound knowledge of product and supply.
  • Excellent attention to detail, excellent hygiene principles.
  • Guest focus philosophy, living the brand and driving the experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), practicing honest communication.
  • Team player with positive attitude, enthusiasm, and emotional control.
