ABOUT THE ROLEYou will own and drive the direct to consumer / B2C revenue streams for HyperionDev and university partner course programmes globally, and lead a number of teams to ensure this scales.

You will take ownership of our B2C admissions strategy, manage and improve our processes for engaging and closing applicants (our leads), and craft strategies for revenue enhancement which include unlocking new channels of facilitating student payments through student loan financing, whilst at the same time protecting the brands of the university partners we work for in pursuing this strategy.

As a member of the management at HyperionDev, you will work within the management team to help in building, influencing and managing the culture of the organisation.


As we rapidly expand into new international territories on the back of a successful fundraise and new partnerships with universities in 7 countries, you will work on solving the complexities of scaling an edtech sales team out of South Africa to convert and enrol students in multiple markets.

You will set up and own KPIs for your department, forecast admissions and revenues based on the pipeline for business planning, and work with the CEO and management team on strategic planning.

You will also work with Marketing to iterate upon our understanding, tracking and generation of quality leads.


You will manage and build further our Admissions and Student finance and Student teams, setting weekly and monthly targets, and enabling a positive, motivated and productive culture within your department.

You will plan your team's growth, evolution and hiring blueprint.

You will draw upon your sales experience and analytical skills to improve our lead to sale conversion ratios and ensure that lead generation spend is optimised by having a data-driven, people-forward approach.


To succeed in this role, you must have a proven track record of coaching and leading direct to consumer admissions / sales team (experience in education/ tech will be advantageous), experience in the management team of an organisation, excellent communication skills, an excellent understanding of technology, and a track record of exceeding targets with sales teams headed by yourself.

RESPONSIBILITIESSet, monitor, and meet quarterly revenue targets across direct to consumer product linesImplement best practices within each of your teams (Admissions and Student Finance) to engage with a range of applicants across geographies to advise them on course choice and enrollmentWorking closely with other departments to identify opportunities to optimise enrollments and scale admissions revenueSet up quarterly Objectives and Key Results for your teams and provide feedback on OKR-setting for other departmentsEnable process improvements not only within your department but throughout the company, particularly at interfaces with Admissions and Student ProgressionGather and analyse data from multiple sources and teams to understand critical aspects such as the optimal applicant registration flow, applicant quality, team productivity, and conversion ratesManage, motivate and train your teams to achieve required KPIs and exceed the monthly Revenue TargetBuild and maintain strong, long-term relationships with finance partnersOversee effective administration relating to the recording and tracking of admissions dataOversee the processes and performance metrics relating to our Student Success team, including time to resolve tickets, reviews on public platforms, student onboarding and progression management, and student NPSKeep updated with existing and potential competitors within the edtech and higher education spaceIdentifying opportunities for new business within the markets in which we operate and are planning to expand intoREQUIREMENTSMinimum6+ years of professional, full-time sales or business development experienceAt least 2 years of experience directly managing and leading direct to consumer admissions / sales teams, with a team of at least 5 admissions reps, at a senior management level, for an ecommerce or education businessAt least 2 years of experience owning KPIs and metrics for a direct to consumer sales teams reporting to youKnowledge of the online education industryA demonstrable track record of exceeding revenue targets and performance quotas individually and as a sales team leadPrior experience leading sales or sales development teams in a high-growth startup or a rapidly scaling companyPrior experience creating and driving alignment and operational efficiencies within marketing and customer success teamsExperience in administering and managing an accurate pipeline and sales forecasts through a CRMExcellent analytical ability in terms of working with sales data off a CRM and spreadsheets, collating and analysing market data, forecasting revenues, and calculating metrics recording productivity and performanceFast learner with meticulous attention to detailNear perfect verbal and written communication skillsA problem-solving and positive attitude with an interest in the future of education and online learningPreferred1+ years of leading a online education sales team that scaled to at least $5mil/year in revenuePrior sales experience in an education contextUnderstanding of basic tech stacks or programming languages such as Java and PythonPrior experience in digital marketing and lead generationA relevant degree in Commerce, Marketing or Business AdministrationWORKING CONDITIONSDue to the seniority of this role, work outside of standard hours and times may be required
