Shell South Africa is a matured market with over 600 plus operational Retail Stations.

Shell South Africa Mobility business has plans of growth agenda of developing fuel station network and the proposed position will play important role in achieving growth plans.


Role is part of Network team of Shell South Africa Mobility and Network team is tasked with enabling the retail network growth to meet the growth plan.


What's the role?


As Desktop Network Planner, you will support the Network Program Management of Mobility South Africa Expansion Program and Network Planning Activities.


In this role, you are expected to fully understand Mobility strategy, multi-year plans, site profitability, retail operation, Integrated master planning and program management of growth program.

You would need to analyse large scale data and translate to strategic implications, multi-year plans and enable growth program decision makings.


Your accountabilities within the Network Planning team include:

Strategic Activities:

  • Handle Focal Responsibilities for activities such as:
  • Strategic Intent Reviews
  • Multi Year Planning
  • CORE analysis
  • Post Investment Reviews
  • Project Financing tools (as Network focal and Finance focal will be from Finance team)
  • Centrally Manage Special project that are critical to business/ regulatory compliance specific to the country. These projects will require coordination across various functions in time bound manner and will have significant business/compliance impact.
  • Lead engagement pack creations (like Global Stakeholder engagement, Business Planning Cascade) to enable (as well join & contribute to) leadership engagements and reviews.

Growth Program Tracking & Enabling Activities:

  • Timely and accurate reporting of Capex, Opex, Site secure, site commissioning, Network Portfolio, Network Planning Specs, Site master data, as per Target & Resource allocations.
  • Analyse the variations in Actuals vs Plan. Present the key findings to leadership team and enable decision making/course correction.
  • Ensure timely and accurate updating of our project management tool.

Communications & Coordination activities:

  • Preparation and effective execution of the Network Calendar.
  • Conduct/Coordinate for Monthly townhalls, Quarterly Business reviews, Weekly Network Leadership connects, Global Leadership connects.
  • Communicate & Coordinate with Engineering Partners on Program updates.

What we need from you?

  • We're keen to hear from individuals with the relevant work experience of 5 to 8 years.
  • A bachelor's degree in Commerce or a like and MBA is preferred.
  • Commercial experience is a must.
  • Strong skills in excel based models/reports and Power point presentations.
  • Performance driven attitude, in order to get the team to focus on adding value.
  • Ability to Lead and manage change.
  • Enthusiastic personality and open in communication.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to be a strong team player, relationship building, training, listening skills.
  • Ability to be a proactive and decision problem solver with good root cause analysis skills.
  • Good communicator, both written and verbal in English.
  • Selfstarter, demonstrating initiative.
  • Ability to build effective and sustainable network.
  • Can interact effectively at all levels of management.
  • Must be knowledgeable in using MS Excel.
