Job Purpose

  • To create and increase revenue and economic profit from selected existing and new clients in the Holding Entities, Private Equity, and Family Office portfolio. The incumbent must effectively manage internal stakeholders and facilitate collaboration across the relevant product areas of Nedbank's wholesale clusters, to achieve our sector strategic objectives and create shareholder value. Further this individual should be the single point of contact for clients by navigating, coordinating the solutions available within Nedbank to offer a true banking partnership to clients and stakeholders. This role is based in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver or exceed targets by proactively monitoring and analysing sector news/knowledge and developments that are pertinent to selected clients, looking for opportunities, gaps and ideas to source business leads and solutions resulting in deal flow.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the sector strategy, and formulate client plans to defend and grow share of client wallet by building business pipelines across the full spectrum of CIB products.
  • Proactively recommend tailormade solutions to meet the client's needs by gaining an intimate understanding of the client's business and business environment, and by consulting with relevant stakeholders.
  • Build long term professional and collaborative relationships externally and internally through engagement, understanding and delivering solutions consistently to meet client needs.
  • Support the deal implementation process by communicating with the client and internal stakeholders, monitoring progress, gathering feedback, and taking corrective action.
  • Manage and elevate the client coverage brand across all stakeholders by providing a single interface for the client with the bank, understanding the drivers for the client and the sectors and economies that they operate in, together with the requirements from a bank perspective and position these correctly with relevant stakeholders.
  • Leverage knowledge of client's business and senior level client relationships and sector expertise to originate multiproduct transactions and generate a solid deal pipeline.
  • Deliver 3year plan for the portfolio by continuously engaging clients' executives to understand their short to medium term strategies.
  • Manage the Nedbank brand with external stakeholders by engaging internal stakeholders on their plans and expectations in order to ensure that both plans are congruent.
  • Understand the bank's risk policy, internal procedures, product and information requirements to vet transactions and to enhance the quality of transactions referred to the product areas.

Essential Qualification

  • Under-Graduate Degree in Financial/Business Management
    Preferred Qualification
  • Post-Grad Degree in Financial/Business Management / CA (SA) / CFA
    Minimum Experience Level
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in corporate and investment banking related to a Corporate client portfolio within a banking / financial services environment.
  • Exposure to multiple product lines as well as relevant sector specific clients would be advantageous.
  • A strong background in corporate banking, global markets and investment banking; including operational processes.
  • Exposure to gathering and providing insight into a market sector, including the needs, nuances, policies, market drivers and roleplayers in that sector.
