ACCOUNTABILITY:
To ensure all expediting, warehousing and[WLA(Z1] logistics are done in a timeously manner for all orders placed within South Africa, Zambia, DRC and international shipments. Management of all departments to ensure targets are met.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Commercial Lead
  • Copper Africa
  • Interact closely with Suppliers, Transporters & Clearing Agents
  • Interact with the African Region Mines (KCC and MUMI)
  • On site General Manager
  • Onsite procurement manager, logistics manager and operations manager
  • CFO, GM Finance, Financial Managers from the Copper Africa Asset
  • Onsite support in the DRC to ensure critical items are identified and tracked and continuous communication channels are available
  • Interact closely with Suppliers, Transporters & Clearing Agents
  • Expediting team manager
  • Expeditors

QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B Com Logistics or similar qualification
  • APICS / SAPICS certification (preferred)

Competencies:

  • Multitasking and excellent management of personal time and priorities is essential
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that work effectively within team and different audiences
  • Demonstrated, welldeveloped judgment and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to promote vision
  • Domain knowledge of Logistic processes (road), Incoterms
  • Ability to absorb and work under pressure

Work Experience:

  • 5 Years' relevant experience in managing a team Expediting / Logistics as well as Import/Export of products.
  • Experience in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is a PLUS
  • Computer literate MS Office (Advanced Excel skills)
  • SAP knowledge and experience
  • COUPA experience is a plus

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Tracking and Verification of all importation documents, certificates, licenses, shipments and trucks.
  • Analyse all data received to identify any supply risk.
  • Monitor Supplier and Transporter performance by ensuring all deliveries are in line with confirmed due dates and loading expectancy.
  • Considers urgency, importance, risk factors of all product in transit.
  • Creates shared meaning by clearly and confidently communicating the relevant information to a decision or task.
  • Stays calm and focused on the task at hand under pressure.
  • Remains positive when under pressure, uncertainty and changing business conditions.

  • Be conscious of details of all inbound transport and products. Work fast and maintain productivity.

  • Review and approve transport quotes and invoicing from freight forwarders
  • Work closely with Lubumbashi team to ensure queries are resolved and import permits closed to limit risk of penalties
  • Any other tasks required by the management/hierarchy within capacities/skills
  • Direct, coordinate and maintain the effectiveness of all Johannesburg logistics team as well as expediting functions and services to ensure timely delivery of materials to projects, and to manage all personnel activities in support of these operations.
  • Live tracking of progress; and frequent intervention to ensure targets are met.
  • Planning and managing logistics, warehouse, transportation and customer service. Directing, optimizing and coordinating full order cycle. Liaising and negotiating with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and consumers.
  • Monitor all forwarding (RSA and Zambia) in an effort to expedite delivery to site and make suggestions where improvements can be realised
  • Overseeing GoodsinTransit (GIT) reporting to ensure ontime delivery of goods
  • Overseeing open orders review on a monthly bases for global reporting
  • Collect and report information regarding open contracts
  • Collect and report information regarding open orders
  • Collect and report information on DRC and Zambian suppliers
  • Documentation of ETA dates for each order
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to the JHB logistics team

  • Ensuring all rates billed by the forwarder is in line with the agreed contract
  • Going out into the market for tender on ADHOC shipments to ensure we are paying best rates with excellent service
  • Continuous engagement with freight forwarder and haulier to preplan trucking requirements to ensure enough trucks are available as to not disrupt logistics chain as well as negotiate favourable rates.
