Account Payable Supervisor (Clothing Textile)


A leading South African online retailer is looking for a highly talented
Accounts Payables Team leader with clothing têxtile exposure to join our Finance Team in Cape Town.

A BCom degree and payments experience in a clothing retail space are deal breakers.

>Non-negotiable skills set, competencies and / or qualifications:_

1) _Managing stock and accounting for all clothing and têxtile expense vendors,_

  • 2)_ _Review of contracts with vendor terms,_
  • 3)_ _Review of order and stock levels to ensure we order correct quantities (no overordering, avoid dormant stock, review sales activity),_
  • 4)_ _Review charges on GTS system (system that handles the stock inflow),_
  • 5)_ _Evaluate quality of stock receipts (under receipts, recovery of shorts),_
  • 6)_ _Improving on derivative instruments to settle (letters of credit etc),_
  • 7)_ _Review reconciliation and payment process,_
  • 8)_ _Liaise with suppliers and resolve disputes,_
  • 1)_ _Experience in the accounting of a retail clothing environment,_
  • 2)_ _Will have to manage two clerks and operate in a diverse culture,_
  • 3)_ _Must be selfstarter,_

>The position reports to the Accounts Payable Manager

>Your responsibilities will include:

¦ Responsible for all clothing and têxtile vendor payments end-to-end;
¦ Develop and implement standardized departmental controls and policies to ensure increased accuracy and efficiency;
¦ Manage the supplier onboarding and maintenance process, including continuing development of the process at scale;
¦ Full ownership of all supporting documentation flow in line with best practice and relevant legislation;
¦ Build, train, manage, maintain and an effective and independent team, to handle day-to-day responsibilities;
¦ Work closely with clothing and têxtile buying team, to optimize processes and automate transactional flow;
¦ Reporting of key KPI's, relating to AP for Clothing and Textile;
¦ Review supplier reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy of payments;
¦ Resolving non-routine supplier queries;
¦ Manage supplier account's age analysis;
¦ Managing weekly and monthly payment cycle;
¦ Assistance with financial month end and year end close;
¦ Ad hoc tasks as required by management;

>Qualifications:

¦ Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting (BCom Acc preferred);
¦ 3-4 years' experience in Clothing and Textile Accounts Payables or similar position;
¦ Experience in managing a team;
¦ Advanced Excel;
¦ SAGE experience will be advantageous;
