Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification (3year degree or higher)
  • Post Graduate Degree
  • BCom or Business sciences (honours)
  • Registered Chartered Accountant with SAICA (CA(SA))
  • 5 years' experience
  • Computer literate MS Suite with Advanced Excel skills
  • All legislative requirements and governance processes and procedure (IFRS)
  • Financial controls and auditing practices and procedures
  • SA Income Tax Act
  • Companies Act and JSE Listings requirements.
  • Working with integrated financial systems.
  • General bookkeeping and transactional accounting.
  • Data and contract investigation for financial impact.
  • Formulation of financial statements.
  • Listed company experience essential (including articles)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Role and Responsibilities

IFRS APPLICATION

CONSOLIDATION

  • To compile consolidated financial statements for SPUR Corporation and subsidiary companies for announcement, distribution and tracking of organisational compliance

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

  • Compile and present annual financial statements for Spur Corporation and its subsidiary companies; monthly review of balance sheet reconciliations (ensure that balance sheet is "clean"); proactively identify and correct any errors and omissions; proactively identify any yearend audit issues and implement systems/processes to address (no surprises policy); primary audit coordinator.

GOVERNANCE AND COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements and controls to mitigate and minimize risks; STATS returns, CIPC financial statements tagging.

INCOME TAX AND INDIRECT TAXES (VAT, DIVIDENDS)

  • Manage and review process for completion of monthly VAT returns, sixmonthly provisional tax returns, annual income tax returns and periodic dividend withholding tax returns (specialist tax knowledge preferred, but not a requirement; working knowledge of practical tax and VAT required)

BUDGET AND PLANNING

  • Assist team in compiling and reporting on consolidated budget.

MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING

  • Assist team in compiling and reviewing monthly management accounts

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

  • Assist team in compiling and reviewing monthly management accounts
