The role in a nutshell:You will be leading the Payments Operations Team consisting of the group of people that take care of the day-to-day operational functions of payments.

The role reports into our Global Head of Payments.

In the first six months you will :

Obtain an understanding of Luno's current Operational environment and processes relating to PaymentsBuild relationships with the rest of the Operations leadership team as well as the Global Payment Operations teamUnderstand our current risk and control environment and provide suggestions for improvementYour mission will be:Oversee day to day operations related to global customer payments and payment gatewaysProvide strong hands-on leadership to a growing Operations teamWork with the engineering, community and operations teams to identify operational areas of improvement and create and monitor new processes to keep teams as efficient as possibleOversee bank and payment provider reconciliations and investigate any issues that are identifiedOwn and monitor key Operational metrics and SLAsOnboard and train new team membersManage operational task rotations and schedulesOwn and regularly review Standard Operating ProceduresOversee and enhance cross-functional relationships between members of various Operations teamsEngage regularly with team members regarding performance and career developmentImplement and execute processes related to internal audits, quality control, compliance and training A little about you:A relevant University degree from a reputable tertiary institution (finance field will be advantageous)3-5 years work experience preferred, preferably in a banking environment or a team responsible for managing large payment volumesA South African work permit if not a South African citizenHigh attention to detailApplies critical and creative thinking and to create efficient processesDelivers results that create the best experiences for our customersLeads change through entrepreneurial thinking, a strong sense of responsibility and a very high level of integrityHave experience using data analytics to provide reporting, insights and metrics to effectively manage the payments function and the team's performance.

High levels of EQ and proven experience in leading a teamExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, a strong team playerInterest in Cryptocurrency and Payments will be advantageousInternet access at home and the ability to work remotely (Luno will provide successful candidates with suitable equipment to set them up for success)

Proven planning and organisational skills to meet tight deadlines and prioritise workloadThe ability to influence and make recommendations confidently with the use of data and analyses, especially to the senior leadership teamLife at Luno:
