    Job Purpose
  • To manage and lead a team of professionals in providing Digital assurance to the Nedbank Chief Internal Auditor (CIA); on the quality assurance and continuous improvement framework for Group Internal Audit (GIA); to contribute towards business success by directing the smooth operation of the Digital Assurance Function and ensuring optimum performance of this internal audit function in line with the overall Nedbank business strategy and relevant strategic imperatives
    Responsibilities:
  • Provide broad overall direction for the Digital Assurance design, management, operations support and business shift functions and ensure that there is an agreed design philosophy that can be justified against global leading practices.
  • Take overall accountability for the financial and operational performance of the Digital Assurance function and ensure that there is an agreed management and support philosophy that can be justified against global leading practices.
  • Participates in the development of the organisational vision and strategic objectives and ensures that these are cascaded and aligned within the business; and that appropriate organisational structures, budgets and other resources are available to achieve the strategic objectives.
  • Establishes and ensures maintenance of effective action orientated performance management systems and processes within the Business and facilitates effective cross Divisional partnerships.
  • Oversee and manage the standards and governance aspects related to Digital Assurance, Digital Assurance design, management, operations support and business shift functions.
  • Enable and support the research of global leading Digital Assurance design, management, operations support and business shift functions and facilitate the integration of these practices into the business design environment and Digital Assurance.
  • Empower and back up the Digital Assurance teams and promote the agreed design philosophies at all levels.
  • Sets direction for and facilitates the development of dynamic strategies and strategic imperatives for the Digital Assurance function.
  • Analyse the integrated performance of the business and provide integrated and pro active reports to all required stakeholders;
  • Ensure that adequate risk management practices are applied at all levels of the business.
  • Provide proactive governance support upwards and across the various GIA business entities.
  • Drive innovation and ensure learning from mistakes.
  • Seek and motivate support from all levels for appropriate innovations.
  • Manage expectations and moderate the speed of change and innovation to support the broader business requirements.
  • Assess and understand business systems, processes, tools, methodologies and templates, within audit scope to gain efficiencies in current audit processes and reporting (i.e. Robotics, AI, Machine Learning etc);
  • Identify and assess the design adequacy and operational effectiveness of controls within audit scope.
  • Be commercially minded and understand the broader business strategy in auditing approach.
  • Act as an trusted business advisor through providing Digital assurance insights in line with audit methodology.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships through regular scheduled engagements.
  • Build sound professional relationships through addressing client concerns.
  • Maintain an open and constructive relationship with the CIA,, GIA executives, and key stakeholders by providing value added services and sharing information.


 Minimum Experience Level
  • The following minimum experience is required:
years financial services experience in a senior position;

  • Banking experience, inclusive of client facing experience (preferably);
  • Ability to operate at a Senior level; and
  • Leadership experience leading teams.
  • The following additional experience is preferred:
  • Significant internal audit and / or information technology experience in banking

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Type of Exposure

  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, including communication with senior stakeholders of a nondata background (being able to communicate technical issues in simple business terms) and excellent reporting writing skills;
  • Experience in managing projects, including developing project plans, budgets and deliverables schedules;
  • Experience of managing people both in terms of managing delivery teams and providing coaching to individuals;
  • Experience of the full engagement delivery lifecycle including risk and stakeholder management;
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Analytical and problem solving capabilities on complex engagements
