The role
This role requires a hands-on person to work with an experienced team.

As such, you will drive the overarching vision and execution of the content marketing strategy, interpret client briefs and execute them with the team.

You will act as custodian of all aspects of the account while continually looking for opportunities to improve content across platforms and push the boundaries to elevate the team's global award-winning work.

Specification
Manage the content team, strategise and ideate content across formats and platforms.

Sign off on the look and feel of various digital and print projects to ensure that they meet the client's expectations on this large, dynamic account.

Be the day-to-day client contact with a client service focus across all content deliverables.
Oversee and collaborate with the core team to deliver consistently high-quality work.

Work closely with the art director to ensure that designs are on brand and on strategy, whether digital or print.

Drive the visual language across content campaigns and projects with the art director.

Work closely with the deputy and digital editor and the features and content editor with regard to content conceptualisation, creation and execution.

Work closely with the traffic manager to ensure a smooth digital production process.
Work closely with the digital strategist on always-on and project-specific content.
Work closely with the account director to manage deadlines and budgets across the account.
Act as the custodian of all work together with the core team.
Participate in and contribute to brainstorm sessions to ensure strong, relevant and fresh content ideas.
Conceptualise, write and create strategic, content and project presentations.
Commission content/projects through a network of experienced, specialised content producers and suppliers as required.
Ensure that client feedback is executed.
Check and sign off print proofs when required.
Continually explore creative opportunities to grow traffic, reach and engagement on all digital platforms.
Conceptualise ad-hoc publications and documents as needed.
Lead and develop the creative and strategic growth of the account across projects and platforms.

Lead editorial (online and print) meetings to ensure that content remains on par with the client's brief and brand message.

Liaise with the client on approvals and content plans in conjunction with the core team.
Promote collaboration and cooperation across teams by fostering a solution-oriented mentality in the team.
Work closely with the content director as and when required.
Compile and write all awards entries.
Key requirements

As content lead, you will:

Have at least 10 years' experience as an editor, digital or features editor (newspapers, magazines or content marketing) in a publishing or agency environment
Work well in a small team made up of senior team members to deliver on brand objectives
Work well independently and as part of a team
Act as mentor and leader to team members
Have a sound knowledge of editorial principles and journalistic ethics
Have an excellent command of English, including spelling and grammar
Be nimble, versatile and have a strong creative sense
Be willing to assist as needed in other areas of the business
Have a hands-on, solutions-driven mindset
Have proven experience of creating and executing content strategies
Foster the existing strong client relationship and build on their trust in the team
Have an excellent broad general knowledge and the ability distill complex topics into relevant content
Remain informed on events in the market that are relevant to the clients' business
Always act in a mature, professional manner
Preference will be given in line with the Dentsu creative employment equity policy.
