Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Technology Portfolio & Programme Management Leader to drive the successful delivery of large-scale transformation initiatives across our organisation. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Lean Portfolio Management, programme governance, and technology delivery, with a proven track record of managing complex projects across software, infrastructure, cyber, and IT domains. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the technology portfolio, ensuring effective prioritisation, resource allocation, and delivery of programmes and projects.
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of large transformation projects, from initiation through to closure, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Implement and champion Lean Portfolio Management practices to optimise value delivery and portfolio performance.
  • Apply Prince2 and Agile/Safe methodologies to structure, plan, and execute programmes and projects.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across multiple industries to understand requirements, manage expectations, and drive strategic alignment.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project and programme managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Ensure robust risk management, issue resolution, and change control across all programmes.
  • Oversee reporting, governance, and assurance activities, providing clear visibility of portfolio status to executive leadership.
  • Drive technology implementations across software, infrastructure, cyber security, and IT, ensuring integration and alignment with business strategy.
  • Mentor and develop team members, sharing best practices and supporting professional growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in technology portfolio and programme management, with a focus on large transformation projects.
  • Demonstrable experience working across a variety of industries.
  • Proven track record in delivering complex programmes across software, infrastructure, cyber, and IT implementations.
  • Strong expertise in Lean Portfolio Management.
  • Prince2 and Agile/Safe certifications are essential.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable technology programmes.
  • Experience in risk management, governance, and assurance within a technology environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing project management teams.
  • Advanced degree in IT, Business, or related field.
  • Additional certifications in portfolio management or technology delivery.
