About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-driven
Senior Accountant
to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, hands-on experience with full-function accounting, client portfolio management, SARS compliance, and the ability to lead junior staff. This role is suited to a self-motivated professional who can work independently, manage deadlines, and deliver accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare and review
    Annual Financial Statements
    and
    management accounts
    .
  • Manage full monthly accounting cycles, including journals, reconciliations, ledgers, and month-end processes.
  • Oversee
    general ledger maintenance
    , fixed assets, depreciation, and accruals.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and company accounting policies.

Taxation

  • Handle
    tax computations
    and submissions for:
  • Individuals
  • Companies
  • Trusts
  • Manage SARS correspondence, queries, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure timely filing of VAT, PAYE, Provisional Tax, Income Tax, and related returns.

Client & Portfolio Management

  • Act as main financial point of contact for a portfolio of clients.
  • Understand client financial needs and provide strategic, accurate guidance.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and professionalism.

Audit & Compliance

  • Conduct on-site and off-site audit work and prepare audit files/workpapers.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory compliance (SARS, CIPC, etc.).

Team Leadership & Oversight

  • Manage, mentor, and review work from trainee accountants.
  • Provide technical training and support where required.
  • Prioritise workloads and ensure department deadlines are met.

Systems & Admin

  • Work efficiently across accounting software including:
    Pastel, Xero, Draftworx, Sage, Quickbooks, CaseWare, SimplePay
    , and Microsoft Office.
  • Maintain accurate financial databases and documentation.

Minimum Requirements

  • BCom in Financial Accounting or equivalent.
  • Minimum
    4–6 years experience
    in an accounting firm or similar environment.
  • Proven experience compiling AFS, management accounts, and handling multi-client portfolios.
  • Strong taxation knowledge across individuals, companies, and trusts.
  • Proficiency in Xero, Sage, Pastel, Draftworx, and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license.
