Position Title: National Fundraiser

Department: Fund Development

Reports To: Fund Development Manager

Location: National Office (Cape Town)

Travel Required: Some travel required

Main Purpose of the Role

The primary objective of the National Fundraiser is to generate the income required to support ongoing operations and growth strategy. The role also involves building and maintaining strong relationships with donors and ensuring excellent stewardship.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Institutional Fundraising

  • Achieve quarterly and annual fundraising targets.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify new potential donors and inform a structured cultivation and solicitation plan.
  • Compile and complete grant applications in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain a monthly spreadsheet tracking identified prospects and submitted proposals.
  • Source donations in kind to support events and reduce operational expenses.
  • Compile and submit donor reports by their due dates.
  • Contribute to the development of the overall fund development strategy.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of the donor stewardship plan.
  • Ensure high standards of donor stewardship are maintained at all times.

2. General Functions

  • Provide support to the Fund Development team for various organisational promotions, events, and campaigns.

Skills and Experience Required

As my client expands its fundraising team to align with its growth strategy, the successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for the non-profit sector and a strong commitment to making a meaningful impact. The role requires someone who is an exceptional communicator, has strong relationship-building skills, is a skilled writer, and can creatively and effectively share the brands story to engage donor support.

Core Requirements

  • A relevant Degree or Diploma, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated fundraising success and capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • A valid drivers licence and willingness to travel.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in fundraising.
  • Proven experience in donor relationship management.
  • Comfortable with presentations and public speaking engagements.

Key Competencies

  • Ability to work to the highest standards with professionalism and resilience.
  • Proactive and able to take initiative; demonstrates innovation in approach.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
