The Durban Chamber is keen to appoint a suitable person into the above position, the minimum requirements for which are a tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communication and/or PR and four years' relevant work experience.

This person will provide Communication and Marketing Support across all the Chamber divisions (Policy and Advocacy, Business Development and Membership), and any other support per the CGO's discretion/need.

Requirements:


• Strong written and verbal communication, good presentation skills


• Good project management skills


• Advanced computer literacy in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint


• Ability to work independently and to multitask


• Ability to organise events across all business units


• Ability to create marketing materials and provide clear creative briefs


• Ability to prepare reports on marketing, events and media.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:


• Key communication functions reporting to the CGO, for media and membership, internal and external


• Strategic stakeholder relationship management


• Marketing support across all departments


• Media communications and media updates (Press Releases, official Chamber statements)


• Membership communication and updates


• Conceptualisation of event themes, preparing and managing event timelines, marketing, technical assistance and overall event coordination


• Administration of events including media coverage, staff coordination, report writing and risk management


• Development and execution and monitoring of marketing programmes


• Conducting research on the market and target audience


• Planning and leading the marketing of the Chamber at trade shows/exhibitions


• Administrative coordination of the CGO's strategy diary engagements.
