Role Description

We are looking for a highly skilled
Senior Accountant
to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will take ownership of core accounting functions, prepare and support financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and contribute to efficient financial operations across the business. You will play a key role in month-end close, compliance, reconciliations, and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce Honours (BCom Hons) in Accounting
    .

- SAICA/SAIPA articles, CIMA or post-graduate accounting qualifications.
- Strong knowledge of
Syspro 8
- 3 -5 years of accounting experience
, ideally in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End

  • Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Performing month-end journals, including payroll, accruals, and reclassifications.
  • Ensuring all control accounts reconcile to sub-ledgers (AP, AR, Fixed Assets).
  • Maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger and reviewing detailed GL transactions.

Accounting Operations

  • Reviewing and processing supplier reconciliations and payments.
  • Assisting with customer credit vetting and debtor account resolution.
  • Monitoring WIP, analysing variances, and supporting job costing processes.
  • Reviewing and updating the fixed asset register monthly.
  • Ensuring accurate master data setup on Syspro (customers, suppliers, inventory).

Compliance & Governance

  • Preparing VAT201, EMP201, EMP501, WCA, and other statutory returns.
  • Supporting the preparation of annual audit files.
  • Ensuring compliance with IFRS for SMEs and internal company policies.
  • Supporting export/import compliance, including Exchange Control requirements.

Cash Flow & Forecasting

  • Preparing cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
  • Preparing budget and forecast schedules for the Executive Manager.

Cross-functional Support

  • Providing financial insight to departmental managers.
  • Supporting administrative and finance staff with training and query resolution.
  • Participating in finance & admin department meetings.
