Overview
We are seeking an experienced Marketing Manager to lead our dynamic marketing function in Cape Town. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, overseeing a team of marketing specialists across design, content, digital and events. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing initiatives for our Southern African businesses aligned with our global company's brand strategy, ensuring consistency, creativity, and measurable business impact.
This is an exciting opportunity for a marketing professional with deep experience in financial services or investment management, strong project leadership skills, and the ability to balance creativity with commercial insight.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy that supports business growth and strengthens the firm's market positioning and overall proposition.
- Contribute to strategic business discussions, advising leadership on market trends, client engagement, and brand perception.
- Work effectively across a matrix structure to ensure clear brand cohesion while accommodating local nuances.
Team Leadership and Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of marketing professionals across design, content, digital, and event management.
- Oversee resource allocation, team performance, and project and budget prioritisation.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Brand and Content Management
- Ensure all marketing materials and campaigns reflect brand integrity, tone, and compliance requirements.
- Oversee the development of high-quality marketing collateral, including presentations, brochures, newsletters, videos, and digital assets.
- Manage and approve all content creation, ensuring it meets strategic objectives and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with investment, distribution, and product teams to craft compelling messages and materials.
Campaigns and Communications
- Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns across digital, print, and events channels.
- Drive lead generation, brand awareness, and client engagement through targeted initiatives.
- Manage PR and media relationships executed by the communications specialists.
- Oversee internal communications to ensure staff alignment and engagement with brand initiatives.
Events and Client Engagement
- Oversee the planning and execution of events, conferences, and client functions.
- Ensure events align with business objectives, deliver strong ROI, and enhance brand visibility.
- Partner with client relationship teams to support client retention and acquisition efforts through strategic event marketing.
Digital and Analytics
- Oversee digital marketing activities, including website management, SEO, social media, and email campaigns.
- Monitor and analyse marketing performance metrics, providing insights and reports to leadership.
- Leverage data to refine strategies and ensure optimal budget utilisation.
Compliance and Governance
- Ensure all marketing initiatives adhere to FSCA, FAIS, and industry-specific compliance standards.
- Maintain approval and documentation processes for all client-facing materials.
Attributes, Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (postgraduate qualification preferred).
- 10+ years' experience in marketing within financial services or investment management.
- Proven track record in team leadership and strategic marketing delivery.
- Strong understanding of investment products, distribution models, and advisor/client engagement.
- Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in digital marketing platforms, CRM systems, and campaign analytics tools.
- Experience working in a matrixed corporate structure and collaborating with group marketing functions.
