Job Description: Cape Town Driver

Position Overview

The Cape Town Driver is responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and professional delivery and collection of products for the Cape Town branch. This role requires exceptional driving skills, strong customer service, and a high level of responsibility when transporting premium products. When delivery schedules allow, the Driver will also assist the Warehouse Assistant with stock handling, housekeeping, and general warehouse operations.

The Driver is expected to uphold the company's brand reputation through excellent presentation, safe driving practices, and professional interactions with customers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Primary Role: Driving & Deliveries

2. Conduct all deliveries and collections in a professional, timely, and safe manner.

3. Ensure the safe loading, securing, and offloading of products to prevent damage.
4. Follow scheduled delivery routes and optimise travel efficiency where possible.
5. Maintain a high level of customer service during deliveries, ensuring friendly and professional communication at all times.
6. Verify delivery notes, obtain customer signatures, and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
7. Report any delivery challenges, delays, or customer concerns to the Cape Town Administrator or Supervisor.

8. Uphold strict road safety compliance, adhering to all traffic laws and company driving standards.

9. Vehicle Care and Maintenance

10. Ensure the company vehicle is clean, tidy, and presentable inside and out at all times.

11. Conduct daily checks, including tyres, oil, fuel, lights, and overall roadworthiness.
12. Report any mechanical issues or damages immediately for prompt repair.
13. Ensure products are correctly loaded, balanced, and protected to avoid damage during transit.

14. Keep the vehicle organised and free from unnecessary items or debris.

15. Warehouse Support (When Not Driving)

During periods when deliveries are complete or no driving tasks are scheduled, the Driver must assist the Warehouse Assistant with:

Stock Handling

• Assisting with the loading and offloading of products.
• Helping with stock packing, organisation, and rotation.
• Supporting accurate stock counts and noting discrepancies.

Housekeeping

• Keeping the warehouse area clean and tidy, including sweeping, mopping, and organising equipment.
• Cleaning windows, showroom areas, and workspaces when required.
• Assisting in maintaining cleanliness in the showroom, kitchen, and bathroom areas.

Product Care

• Ensuring products are clean, correctly labelled, and neatly stored.

• Helping with the movement, staging, and cleaning of showroom items.

• General Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the Cape Town Administrator, Warehouse Assistant, and Sales team to support smooth daily operations.

• Uphold company standards of professionalism, punctuality, and teamwork.
• Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe lifting practices.
• Carry out any reasonable ad-hoc tasks requested by management.

Skills and Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

• Valid South African driver's licence (Code 8 or higher).
• Clean driving record with proven safe driving history.
• Minimum 2 years of driving experience, preferably in a delivery or logistics environment.
• Ability to handle and secure heavy or fragile products safely.
• Strong understanding of road safety regulations and route navigation.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Monthly Salary: ±R8 000
