**Job Title**: HR Intern
**Location**: Altwork Office, Century City, Cape Town
**Commitment**: 2-3 days per week, 6-month paid internship
**Compensation**: Basic wage of R4,500 per month plus bonuses; transport and lunch expenses covered.
**About the Role**
Altwork is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented HR Administration Intern to support the day-to-day HR and administrative functions at our Cape Town office. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field to gain practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic business environment.
You will work closely with the HR team to support recruitment, employee record management, training coordination, and other key HR processes, ensuring the smooth operation of our HR functions while developing valuable skills for your future career.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Recruitment & Onboarding Support**:
- Assist with the posting of job vacancies, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
- Support onboarding processes, including the preparation of offer letters, induction schedules, and welcome packs for new employees.
**Employee Record Management**:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including contracts, attendance logs, and performance reviews.
- Organize and ensure compliance with all HR files and databases, both physical and digital.
**HR Administration**:
- Assist with drafting and distributing company policies and procedures.
- Help coordinate staff training sessions, workshops, and compliance activities.
- Manage leave records, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes.
**Employee Engagement Support**:
- Assist with the planning and execution of staff engagement activities such as team-building events or wellness initiatives.
- Provide support in addressing employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
**Compliance & Reporting**:
- Ensure that all HR activities adhere to labor laws and company policies.
- Help prepare reports on HR metrics such as employee turnover, recruitment statistics, and attendance.
**General Office Administration**:
- Provide support with administrative tasks such as filing, scheduling meetings, and preparing correspondence.
- Assist in maintaining office supplies and managing vendor relationships related to HR needs.
**Working Hours**
- **Regular Schedule**: 2-3 days per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to accommodate your studies or other commitments.
- **Hybrid Role**: A mix of office-based work and remote tasks may be required based on workload and responsibilities.
- **Education**: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- **Skills**: Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- **Proficiency**: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic familiarity with HR software is a plus.
- **Personal Attributes**: Detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
