**Main purpose of the job**:

- Arrange and maintain biorepository of all specimens as per SOPs

**Location**:

- **National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) - Sandringham, Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- Carrying our microbiological assays on samples (serial dilutions, gel electrophoresis, measure DNA concentrations using the Nanodrop, MGIT, media preparation, etc.) as per SOPs
- Printing of labels to track samples
- Tracking of laboratory consumables
- Managing lab stock and storerooms
- Collection and logging of samples
- Daily and/or weekly reporting of progress
- Maintaining files in the BSL3 laboratory
- Assist with microbiological laboratory assays

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Technology qualification in a science field**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **Minimum of 1-year of working experience in a microbiology laboratory**

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- GCP/GLP training would be advantageous
- Competent in the use of Microsoft office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Should possess excellent reporting and effective time management skills
- Should be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Should be able to work under pressure while adhering to strict work deadlines
