**Minimum Requirements**:

- Grade 12
- Code 10 driver’s license with the ability to pass RW K53 assessment
- 3 years experience in an analytical laboratory and preferably experience in Water Industry
- It will be an added advantage if applicants are studying towards a qualification in the water sector.

**Primary Duties**:

- Perform field determinations, resolve problems related disinfect ion with an understanding of RW secondary and tertiary disinfection scenarios.
- To monitor new and existing on line instrumentation to ensure correctness for the reliability of on line instrumentation. in the production of drinking water.
- Collections of all required samples within Rand Water area of supply.
- Collate samples being submitted from the external direct customers or from area of possible water related investigation.
- Prepare and clean glass ware for the section on a rotational basis.
- Transport samples to any of the Laboratories or Analytical Service Laboratories within agreed time frames. (Driving skills)
- Perform and checks and copy related to data from determinations to laboratory computer systems.
- Perform checks on instrumentation and make reagents for on line analyses instrumentation at different on line quality control venues. Completion off SHE checklists and the adherence to SHE practices in the areas of work with supervisors and operation regarding the appropriate determinations performed to satisfy the section or operational needs.
- Treatment of reservoirs and pipelines with disinfectant under the guidance of a supervisor.
- Promote the section as a centre of excellence in water quality maintenance.
- Give advice and supply information to other departments within Rand Waters operations departments with guidance from the supervisors of the section.

- Proven skills in driving and performance of Grade 12 level chemistry and mathematics

- Knowledge of laboratory practices.

- Knowledge of drinking water quality guidelines
- Knowledge of OHSA and ISO 9000 2001
- Knowledge of the disinfection practice of water

**Attitude**:

- Quality and output driven person who can handle pressure and routine work
- Ability to interact with staff and customers
- Team worker but must be able to work independently
- Conscientious and pays attention to details
- Must be prepared to work alternative weekends.
- Work can involve overtime
